Disney To Release Movies For Sony’s PSP
Buena Vista Home Entertainment has announced the release of five movies to be released for Sony’s PSP. The five movies scheduled to launch this spring are: National Treasure, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Reign of Fire, Kill Bill Vol. 1, and Hero. It has also stated that they will be releasing more movies during the year. Disney is the first major studio to announce home video production in the UMD format outside of Sony. Disney did not state the M.S.R.P., however, Sony previously stated the price for the UMD movies will be about the same as its DVD counterpart – about $20-30. Now we can look forward to watching Keira Knightley wherever we take our PSP.

I hope more corps sign on and make movies for PSP. I’m really looking forward to its release - I also can’t wait for them to make digital recording of television and the encoding process for the jawn easy. I would turn my laptop into a tivo and hook up all the great tv show for my portable.
peace. taj

very cool but I really hope the price comes down. Although it would be cool to watch movies on the psp, I am not about to pay more than dvds to have duplicate movies I already own.
Will be interesting to see how these affect dvds though.

20-30 bucks? that’s a little rich, and if that price point doesn’t come down, it could be the downfall of this venture. I’d rather just make a one time investment in a high capacity ms duo stick and rip/convert. much more cost effective.
