Katrina Darrell: From American Idol to Playboy Bunny?

Katrina DarrellAmerican Idol is the most popular reality show in the country, and every year it’s mission is to find stars. Not everyone can sing well enough for the show - but sometimes, even that doesn’t matter. was featured heavily during her auditions for the show…and it all started when she wore her bikini.

The Idol judges (and viewing audience) weren’t the only ones who took notice when Darrell strutted in with her high heels and skimpy suit. Though the singer was ousted from the singing competition, Darrell could still have a very bright future in the entertainment industry.

“Of course, Playboy has called,” Darrell recently told reporters, saying she’s had “a lot of different offers” since being eliminated from the show.

“I wouldn’t say no, but at the same time I don’t want to stunt my career by jumping into that too soon and be labeled, once again, as just a body. But I don’t knock it,” Katrina the Bikini Girl said of the Playboy possibility.

Darrell’s Idol dreams were shattered after , an audition round that was marked by drama for the Bikini Girl. “I’m not in a girl group; I’m a solo artist,” Darrell said of the experience.

is and always has been a solo singing content, made for one star to rise above the others in winning celebration. But for just one night in Hollywood, they have to come together to make beautiful music….or, fall flat on their faces.

Seeing who will fly and who will fail is all part of the excitement. For us, anyway. For many of the contestants, group night is a total nightmare of nerves and tension.

Some, like Tatiana Del Toro, have difficulty even finding and forming a group. Others, like Danny Gokey and Jamar Rogers, manage to find perfect harmony.

American Idol 8: The Beginning of Hollywood

Out of many thousands, American Idol 8 chose just one hundred and forty-seven to go to Hollywood. As Simon Cowell told them at the start of the auditions, “all we’re looking for…is a star.”

Indeed.

This year, the show sent each hopeful to an intensive singing “boot camp” where they rehearsed with vocal coaches. Surprise mentor Barry Manilow showed up to offer his advice and encouragement. The one who wrote the songs told each Idol hopeful to prepare well and make each tune their own.

And thus, the first day at the opulent Kodak Theater began.
