Where were you when JFK was assassinated? Where were you on 9/11?

Those two questions lead us into this extended preview of , ABC’s reimagining of the classic miniseries. In this 8-minute clip from the show’s pilot, we see Americans going through the motions on what they think is just an average day. (Isn’t that exactly how FlashForward started?) Of course, that large pretty woman in the sky - who isn’t attached to a billboard - soon changes everything.

So the question now is: Do you know where you’ll be when V debuts? The new sci-fi drama will have a brief 4-week run starting November 3 then return sometime after the Olympics.

Even though he’s already seen a contestant medivaced out of the Australian Outback after falling into a fire (you can relive that moment after the jump), Survivor‘s said last night’s incident with Russell Swan frightened him. “It was the scariest moment I’ve ever had on this show…nineteen seasons I have never been more afraid in my life of how bad things were.”

During a reward challenge, Swan collapsed in the middle of the competition due to hydration. Although the severity of the problem was initially unclear (all of the survivors were blindfolded), Probst immediately paused the challenge once he recognized the situation. The challenge was later canceled altogether.

“For the next 45 minutes we monitored Russell’s vital signs. We gave him water from his canteen. We gave him oxygen. We propped him up and gave him time to try to relax and get calm,” Probst detailed for Entertainment Weekly. Although there are times contestants return to the game after a visit with medics, the 42-year-old attorney was never given a choice. An unexpected drop in blood pressure forced the producers to end Swan’s run for him.

What may have started years ago in a Hollywood has come crashing to the ground in Colorado.

In a press conference earlier today, Sheriff Jim Alderden of Larimer County has confirmed that the balloon event from Thursday was indeed a hoax. “We have evidence at this point to indicate that it was a publicity stunt, done with the hopes of marketing themselves - or better marketing themselves - for a reality television show at some point in the future.”

This statement comes just two days after the police (intentionally) led the media into believing that they had bought the Heene family’s story. In fact, the former Wife Swap subjects had been under increased scrutiny by the media - and the authorities - after Falcon’s blunder during an interview with Wolf Blitzer.

I’m sure if CNN’s Wolf Blitzer had heard the response clearly, he wouldn’t have let the moment go.

Cue the video to the :23 mark and listen for yourself. Then watch Mayumi and Richard Heene’s reactions. Is there more to this story? Did the event fall as flat as the media feared?
