Jeff Fisher out as Titans coachJeff Fisher is now the former head coach of the Tennessee Titans after both parties agreed to part ways. Fisher just completed his 16th season as head coach for the Titans and many thought that he would coach his 17th after a previous conflict with quarterback Vince Young ended up with owner Bud Adams ageeing to release or trade Young. Young is still with the team, but plans are to still to release or trade him. Fisher will be a strong coaching candidate down the line for another team should he so choose.

Jeff Fisher and Vince Young no longer togetherIt had become obvious that Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher and mercurial quarterback Vince Young could no longer co-exist. Titans owner Bud Adams also knew this to be true and had to make a choice between Fisher, who just finished his 16th season as Tennessee's man in charge on the field and the third overall pick in the NFL's 2006 Draft. Adams is publicly known to love Young, which makes this announcement kind of surprising. However, Fisher isnt in the clear yet as the coaching staff is being evaluated as well. It could be a totally new direction for the Titans going into next season.

2007 RECORD: 10-6

Overview: Jeff Fisher is the most underrated head coach in the NFL. The fact that he took last year’s Tennessee Titans to the playoffs despite having a horrible Vince Young at the helm, and without Albert Haynesworth for most of the year on defense was a minor miracle. Granted, had the Indianapolis Colts starters played the regular season finale, the Titans would have lost and the Cleveland Browns would have made the playoffs. The Titans’ two wins prior to playing the Colts JV team were against the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs.
