Spectrum Online has an article up on some of the better tech cars of 2005. Sounds like hybrid electric vehicles are all the rage now, along with advanced safety features. It’s a good read for those of us in the market for luxury whips, as you might want some of these features. Still, a couple of them fall into either the concept or supercar (read: expensive) category.

Adidas is gearing up for the launch of its new sneaker, which features a microchip that helps to adjust the fit as you engage in various walking/running activities. Small cables inside the shoe adjust the heel cushion as the microchip senses the pressure on the sneaker. At $250, I was expecting it have a wireless MP3 player built in too. The worlds first “smart shoe” will hit stores on March 18.

If it weren’t for the steep price tag, this might be one of the better selling MP3 players out there. Check out the specs: 4 line OLED screen, FM tuner, line-in and headphone ports, microphone, and IR support which allows you to also use this thing as a remote control. It supports MP3, WMA, ASF, WAV, and OGG Vorbis - pretty tight. You can expect to see it available in the Land of the Rising Sun starting at $150 for the base 256 MB model. Ouch.

Wouldn’t someone as important as the VP of Intel - Don MacDonald - realize that showing a blatant knock-off of one of the fastest selling computers on the market would just seem, well, cheesy? Apparently not. At the Intel Developer Forum, he brought out this concept Entertainment PC. It certainly looks familiar, doesn’t it? Oh wait, this one has a little clock on the front, and a remote with some sticky adhesive on the bottom. Gotta love it when they break out the awesome technical advances.

The E.S.R.B. has decided to add a new rating to its arsenal – E10+. This rating will be approved for audiences of at least 10 years of age. Seems that they want to be more specific on the age groups each game is tailored for since this rating tag will be for the following video game description:
“moderate amounts of cartoon, fantasy or mild violence, mild language and/or minimal suggestive themes.”
Are we getting too specific here? Probably not since most parents are all for ratings, especially since most don’t know what most games are even about. All they have to go on when at the store is the box art and the rating sticker. Expect to see the new labels on video games soon.

Once again, Japan gets a one up on America in terms of new hardware colors via Nintendo. This time it is in the form of the Nintendo DS. Nintendo has introduced four new colors, adding to the already stylish Platinum Silver. They are Graphite Black, Pure White, Turquoise Blue, and Candy Pink. The white and pink units also have white face buttons, a white backing, and a white stylus (the other new colors still feature the standard black). Will these see the light of day in America? I would imagine so, as Nintendo likes to mix things up over here as well. I just wouldn’t expect to see all the colors, as evidenced by their refusal to release many of the special edition Game Boy Advance SP’s in the US, as well as the Spice colored Gamecube.

If you have someone in your life who is destroying your home due to being essentially stuck in front of the television, the Couch Potato Tormentor has arrived. Simply put, it is a device that interferes with the component of your choice by performing random actions on the said component. For example, it can simply turn off, mute, or change the channel on the television every so often. Or you can set it to change the audio setting on the receiver every then and again. This is all in the spirit of annoying the person who is trying to enjoy their favorite evening sitcom. Of course it’s just a gag, but I would love to set it up someone discrete and just watch the reaction it gets. However, I know when my components act up, it is no laughing matter.
