X-Files Movie Name Revealed

X-FilesLast month, lucky attendees of the Paley Festival got a sneak peek of the new movie.  (You can get your own shaky view of that trailer here.)  Now we finally know what to call this highly-anticipated sequel: The X-Files: I Want to Believe.

Detail-oriented fans who can remember that far back (the series ended six years ago) may recognize that ‘Believe’ phrase from a poster in Mulder’s office.

In an interview with the AP, show creator explained the significance behind the title.  “It’s a story that involves the difficulties in mediating faith and science. `I Want to Believe.’ It really does suggest Mulder’s struggle with his faith.”

Those (like me) who couldn’t remember that slogan - or haven’t been introduced to the series at all - should not worry.  The movie was designed to serve as a stand-alone feature that will supposedly “satisfy everyone.”

Be ready for the mysteries to unfold this July 25.

GTA IV sold early in some areas

If the video above is any indication, and it appears to be genuine, then some stores didn’t get the memo that Grand Theft Auto IV isn’t to go on sale until April 29. It seems that one Tony Warner was able to purchase his copy a couple of weeks early. In the video, Tony shows off the IV case, the disc itself, as well as the game’s intro. If you are completely wanting to get your hands on the game early, we suggest getting out there and looking around. Skip the Gamestop’s of the world and head straight to places that are clueless about these things, like your local Wal-Mart. Let us know if you have any luck. isn’t gonna be too happy about this one.

The folks over at Wii Nintendo were able to spend some quality time with , and they captured a good two hours of footage for your viewing enjoyment. The footage, embedded above, shows off all 32 courses from the game, so if you want to be completely surprised, you may want to steer clear. The game is played on the 150cc setting in the video, and you are also able to check out some of the menus and all that. Finally, they give their thoughts on the game, as well as the Wii Wheel.

New X-Files Trailer

We apologize for the less-than-perfect quality—the clip was shot by a die-hard fan last night at the Paley Festival in Los Angeles.  The trailer was introduced by creator Chris Carter himself.

Be prepared to start believing again when returns on July 25.

Twitter in Plain English

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Internet, Videos,

We’ve been avid users of Twitter for quite a while now. On the personal side, it allows us to keep in greater contact with our friends and associates. On the Gear Live end, it allows our readers to get up-to-the-minute updates whenever any of our sites posts new content. We think it is a fantastic web and mobile service, but it is really hard to give a concise answer as to why it rocks so much when trying to tell someone else that they need to give it a try.

Thankfully, my friend Lee LeFever (along with his wife Sachi) has put out yet another superb “In Plain English” video - this one focuses on Twitter. If you have yet to sign up, give the video a look. If you do sign up (or if you already have an account) and need a couple of new friends, I’m @andruedwards, and the site is @gearlive. Go ahead and add us.

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Corporate News, Internet, Movies, Music,

Pitchfork TVPitchfork Media is launching an online music TV channel April 7. Think of it as “YouTunes.” The site will feature mini-documentaries, music sessions, concerts, interviews, and music videos. They will also offer films, concerts, and music DVDs at no charge. With full creative control, the original site already has events, reviews, and news tidbits, and is simply moving up the technological ladder with Pitchfork.tv.

Pitchfork promises a hi-res display and will be adding personal playlists so you can save your faves. Let’s hope that the company sticks to its standards and offers music other than a monotonous Billboard Top Ten.

Digging Up the Dirt on More American Idols

We all knew someone from would eventually have their trash uncovered….but four different contestants?

Last week, Amanda Overmyer’s brush with the law was revealed.  This week, we have a foul-mouthed boy, a former male stripper and a girl who likes to take semi-racy photos with her friends.

First up - .  I’ve hated the pouty mouth singer from Day One.  (His attitude overrides any shred of talent he might have.)  Now there’s this video that has surfaced on MySpace.  It may have been intended as a joke, but I fail to see the humor in it.  (I do like making fun of him though.)

Microsoft’s WorldWide Telescope is introduced

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Editorial, Microsoft, Software, Videos,

We knew that Research had something pretty amazing up its sleeve after talking to a few people at the company, in addition to having dinner with Robert Scoble, who told us that what he saw brought him to tears. As it turns out, it is the WorldWide Telescope that had people in awe. After watching Roy Gould introduce the software in the above video during TED, we have to say, we agree. Think of the WorldWide Telescope as the equivalent to the full-featured version of Google Earth - except that the WorldWide Telescope software is free, and instead of looking at the earth in extreme detail, you get to peruse the cosmos instead. I mean, watch the video to see how truly mind-blowing this technology really is. Look for it to be available for download this Spring for the Windows platform. No word on how beefy a machine you will need to run it as smoothly as it worked in the demo - but here’s hoping that everyone who downloads the WorldWide Telescope will be able to enjoy the same experience seen here.

Want an easier answer to forwarding YouTube and other sites’ clips by e-mail? uvLayer claims that with its new application you can “reveal your inner media potential.” Search for your favorite videos to make a collection, put them on a playlist, drag and drop to create your own designer page, then share the sights and sounds with your buds. They can do the same and all of you can leave comments for each other. You have to first download Adobe AIR, but the application works on either Windows XP or Vista or Mac OS X 10.4 or later.

Watch Heidi Montag’s New Video

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, Television, Videos,

On a recent episode of , told the late night host she’s been praying for her former friend, , on a daily basis.  Well after getting a whiff of her new video, I’m thinking star should really keep the good thoughts focused on herself.

Although her new single, Higher, doesn’t hit iTunes until Tuesday, I’d advise you to preview the song here first.  Just think of it as a dollar well saved.

From the whiny voice to the painfully-exaggerated facial expressions and awkward body movements—this clip has written all over it.  (If the video - shot by boyfriend - had been a full-length movie, it too would have gone straight-to-DVD.)

And what was up with those freaky jazz hands?
