New Kids Back to the Old Routine

New Kids on the Block

Sure, I listened to the . I was a young girl in the 90s - find me another like myself who didn’t listen to this band. They rocketed to success, blazed a trail for all the boy bands which came after them, and sold 70 million albums while swinging their legs back and forth and wearing ripped-up jeans. I mean, what says superstars quite like that?

Now they’re all almost forty, and they’re going to attempt to do it (or…something sort of like it) again. Honestly, plainly, I’ve never been into aging rockers. I admire bands like The Rolling Stones and performers like Paul McCartney and sure I think they’re great, but there’s also something a little sad about almost-geriatric singers still playing an electric guitar (don’t believe me? Did you see the ?).

The $24,000 Sex and the City Tour

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories:

Sex and the CityIf a simple bus tour wouldn’t be enough to quench your thirst for anything and everything , you can now do one better.  For only $24,000, you can now live like the girls of the popular HBO show.

To celebrate the May 30th big screen debut, a company called Destination on Location will offer bored souls a way to experience someone else’s life.

For five nights, die-hard fans will travel to some of the characters’ favorite haunts.  They will also receive products those four women frequently enjoyed.  Stops will include a trip a trip to the SoHo House (remember when Samantha tried to get access to the exclusive club’s rooftop pool?), a shopping spree and cocktail party at Jimmy Choo, brunch at the same cafeteria the chatty ladies loved to dine in and access to the movie’s premiere on May 27th.  (I’m assuming bucketloads of cosmopolitans will be served somewhere along this route.)

‘Dancing With The Stars’ Extends Invite to Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton, Tyra BanksDuring last month’s sit down with Tyra Banks, Hillary Clinton said she would like to perform on .  (Okay - what she really said was given a choice of competing on either the dancing competition or America’s Next Top Model, she should probably be on the former.)  Well that remark not only amused the audience, it perked up a few ears at ABC.

Just last week, Jared Paul, DWTS’ co-producer, extended an invitation to the presidential candidate.  Although the reality show is not currently taping, it is still on tour.  It’s Paul’s hope that the senator will exploit one of their upcoming stops for her own campaign purposes.  (This is what you would call a win-win situation.) would be given her pick of male dancer and preferred style of dance.

While an appearance would seem unlikely, Hillary has been doing all she can to drum up support.  And really - this wouldn’t be that much different from her stints on Tyra, Letterman or the Ryan Seacrest radio show.  So who knows?

As of today’s date, she has four tour stops left to choose from (CT, RI, PA).  Let’s see if she can manage to squeeze in another gig.

Achy Breaky Reality Show

Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Comedy, Kids, Music, Prime Time, Reality, Cable,

DescriptionWho would’ve thought that “Achy Breaky Heart” singer and mullet wearer-extraordinaire, Billy Ray Cyrus, would ever make a comeback? With the starring role on the series Doc on PAX TV, a handful of guest appearances and now, most notably, a role on , is officially back. And he’s not just riding daughter coattails now. He’s taking his return to fame and running with it—with a new reality series, of course. Cyrus is working with CMT to develop a reality show that shows his life as a musician and dad. The show, titled Billy Ray Cyrus: Home at Last, doesn’t seem like it will be nearly as entertaining as Being Bobby Brown, but I’m sure he’ll tap into loads of fans on . Plus, viewers will get a behind-the-scenes look at daddy getting ready to tour and Miley/Hannah getting set to tour. The show will debut on November 24th at 9:30 p.m.

New Tour Dates for Kelly Clarkson

DescriptionKelly Clarkson, often touted as the most successful American Idol, is going back on tour this fall. Clarkson canceled her summer tour earlier this year, an action following in the wake of a disagreement with her record label. Many of the venues Clarkson booked did not sell out for the summer dates. This time around, Clarkson will kick off her tour at New York’s Beacon Theater on October 14, finishing off her run in Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium in early December. And all the dates in-between? In a statement, Kelly Clarkson said she’s looking forward to the tour. With luck, there will be no more cancellations for the reality star-turned pop/rock princess.

Who’s Ready for High School Musical 2?

High School Musical Seriously, who isn’t ready for High School Musical 2? I’m a little older than the typical screaming pre-teen Zac Efron fan, but I have to admit I find a little twinkle of charm in the first High School Musical—so I’ll likely give the sequel a look this Friday. Hey, what else is there to watch on a Friday night? Summer TV is pitiful and the wait for the fall season is never-ending. So seeing something light and easy like High School Musical 2 should fit the bill nicely. And I owe it all to my niece. My own kids aren’t that interested, but my niece is a full-fledged maniac about the Disney movie. The movie is the follow-up, of course, to the original 2006 story of high school woes set to music. And it took off like wildfire—spinning into a myriad of plays, a tour, album—good god, even an ice show! This time around, the gang is working at a country club (yep, all of them), so you can bet there will be plenty of musical outbursts as they plan a talent show. And with the certainty of success for the latest High School Musical, there are talks of a third installment landing on the big screen.

Spice Girls Attempt a Comeback

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Gossip, News,

Spice GirlsNo, it isn’t a joke. The Spice Girls will reunite for eleven concerts around the world, and will begin touring this December. This will be the fist concerts for the Spice Girls (or will they call themselves Spice Women now?) since their 2001 breakup, and the first time all five original members have been together since Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) left the group in 1998. Victoria Beckham will join Halliwell on tour, along with Sporty Spice Melanie Chisholm, Baby Spice Emma Bunton, and Scary Spice Melanie Brown.  With seven children between them, the Spices definitely aren’t girls anymore, and Baby Emma is currently pregnant with her first child. EMI will release a Spice Girls greatest hits album (seriously…they have enough “hits” to fill a whole album) in November, just as the tour seriously kicks off.
