Tim Burton: My Batman Movies Were Lighthearted

On the set Batman Returns

Tim Burton believes his Batman movies are like a "lighthearted romp" compared to Christopher Nolan's rebooted versions. The Dark Shadows filmmaker was in charge of 1989's Batman and 1992's Batman Returns, which he believes were a lot lighter than Christopher's latest installments of the superhero movie, The Dark Knight and the forthcoming follow up The Dark Knight Rises.

"I always get told that my material is dark, but nowadays my version of Batman looks like a lighthearted romp in comparison to Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight."

Beastie Boys Co-founder Adam Yauch Has Died

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Hip-Hop & Rap,

Adam YauchBeastie Boys co-founder Adam Yauch has died. The 47-year-old rapper - who was diagnosed with a cancerous parotid gland and a lymph node in 2009 for which he underwent surgery and radiation therapy -passed away this morning.

Adam - who was also known by his stage name MCA - founded the group with Kate Schellenbach, John Berry, and Michael Diamond (Mike D) in 1979 with Berry leaving in 1983 to be replaced by Adam Horovitz (Ad-Rock). The Beastie Boys have not performed live since the summer of 2009, and the rapper's illness prevented the group from appearing in music videos for their album "Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 2."

MCA didn't attend the Beastie Boys' induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame two weeks ago where Ad-Rock and Mike D accepted the accolade but they read out a letter he had written. "I'd like to dedicate this to my brothers Adam and Mike," he wrote. "They walked the globe with me. It's also for anyone who has ever been touched by our band. This induction is as much ours as it is yours."

Adam is survived by his wife, Dechen Wengdu, and their daughter, Losel.

Devil Is Due In DrearyI love comics with a Western-style setting, and if you throw in some apocalypse too, even better. Creator David Parkin and Executive Editor Daryl Freimark describe The Devil Is Due In Dreary as “Classic cars, pompadours and rock-n-roll meet the folklore of the American southwest in this rockabilly take on the classic western.”

Team Dreary, in conjunction with artist Allan Jefferson, successfully published their first issue through Ardden. Now they’re going through Kickstarter to fund issues 2-4 and wrap up the story.

Alexander Skarsgard Dating Italian Skydiver

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Music, Television, Dating, Rumors,

Alexander SkarsgardAlexander Skarsgard is dating an Italian skydiver.

However, while the True Blood hunk is happy to spend time with Roberta Mancino, 31, he is reportedly not looking for anything serious.

"He's been courting her and taking her out to dinner a lot. It's not a serious relationship, but they look forward to hanging out together even more. They really like each other," a source told Life & Style.

Perhaps one of the reasons Alexander wants to keep his dating options open is the recent confession by Battleship co-star Rihanna that she has a crush on him. The "We Found Love" hitmaker said, "I was completely intimidated by the other actors. But I had a lot of scenes with Taylor Kitsch and he helped me out a lot along the way. Alexander Skarsgard is so hot. I had to keep my game face. I could stare at him all day long. I was just watching him on set. He was really sweet."

Alexander previously dated Kate Bosworth for two years and has been linked to Charlize Theron.

Courtney Love Loses Kurt Cobain Image Rights

Courtney Love and Kurt CobainCourtney Love no longer has control of Kurt Cobain's image rights.

The Hole frontwoman agreed to hand over the rights to her late Nirvana singer husband's name, likeness and appearance to their daughter Frances Bean Cobain, 19, in 2010, documents obtained by website The Fix have revealed.

The documents show that Courtney agreed to step down as Acting Manager of End of Music (EOM) LLC - the business responsible for generating cash from the rocker's publicity rights - after she received a $2.75 million loan from her daughter's trust fund. The money was transferred to EOM and then put into an account in Courtney's then-attorney's name. Until the loan is paid back, Courtney won't receive any money from the deals related to Kurt that have been formed by Frances and her advisors since December 2010, which means she could lose out on a fortune.

Is Lindsay Lohan Back with Samantha Ronson?

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Music, Dating, Child Stars, Rumors,

Samantha Ronson and Lindsay LohanLindsay Lohan has reunited with Samantha Ronson.

The 25-year-old actress was seen getting cosy with her ex-girlfriend - who she dated for two years from 2007 to 2009 before briefly getting back together last year - at New York nightclub Le Baron earlier this week, and reportedly "couldn't get enough of each other" while partying the night away.

"Lindsay and Sam were whispering and laughing and they left the club holding hands. They didn't care who saw them and they definitely seem to be back on. It was just like the old days, they couldn't get enough of each other!" a source told X17Online.com.

Bisexual Lindsay, who recently landed the role of the late Elizabeth Taylor in a new TV movie Liz and Dick, was linked to photographer Terry Richardson and porn star Alex Torres in March, but was believed to be trying to stay single so she could focus on her part. "Lindsay wants to devote all her spare time to reading the script and getting Liz's persona down pat rather than focus on a new relationship," a source said.
