Appy Entertainment: Zombies In A Box
Posted by Tom Mason Categories: Editorials, Reviews,
Do you still love the Zombies? I do.
I get a kick out of them when they’re done well, like when my pal Max Brooks writes about them (World War Z totally scared me) or when I’m reading The Walking Dead, while waiting for the new TV show.
Now it’s October, the month of Halloween, and a great time for Zombies. Especially when their blood, guts and goopy brains are on sale.
My buds at Appy Entertainment, Paul O’Connor and Chris Ulm, are putting Zombies on sale this month. It’s an iPhone app of theirs called “All-In-1 ZombieBox,” a 10-zombie-app for less than one sweet dollar.
Appy’s ZombieBox has 10 apps from 10 different indie developers: Zombie Invasion (Conniption Entertainment); Defcon Z (Monkey Armada); Draw Slasher - Dark Ninja vs. Pirate Monkey Zombies (Mass Creation); Zombie Saw (L*U*K*E); Zombie Pizza (Appy Entertainment); Zombie Nombie (Smudgy Games) Apocalypse Zombie Fish (The Binary Mill); Zombie Karts (Cascadia Games); Zombie Apocalypse Manual (PALIANTech); and my favorite name of all time: Zombie Whale Hole (Cervo e.U.)

If you’ve got an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS 4.1 and you’ve been itching to get that jailbreak goodness back, it looks like you’ll have your wish in under three days. The Chronic Dev Team has just confirmed that their SHAtter-based GreenPois0n jailbreak tool, which is compatible with all iOS devices, will be released to the world on October 10, 2010 at 10:10:10AM GMT—see, that’s 10/10/10 10:10:10.
GreenPois0n is based on a low-level exploit which can be used to jailbreak all currently available iOS devices permanently. In order for Apple to block GreenPois0n, they’d only be able to do it on new, revised hardware.
WSJ: Verizon iPhone coming early 2011
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Smartphones, Handhelds, Rumors,
According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple is readying plans to mass produce a CDMA version of the iPhone 4 that would allow Verizon Wireless to sell the phone early next year. They say their sources are “people briefed by Apple,” and we know that we’ve all gone over this rumor numerous times over the past couple of years, but it seems that 2011 marks the end of the AT&T exclusivity on the iPhone in the US, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see it hit Verizon in the first quarter of 2011.
In other news, WSJ reports that Apple is already hard at work on the iPhone 5. Of course, with it expected to launch in just 8 months, that really isn’t news at all.

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Design, Features, Handhelds,
A few days ago we hit you with our white iPhone 4 hands-on gallery, giving you an up-close look at the device as it stands on its own. Today we’ve put together a gallery showing the yet-to-be-released white iPhone 4 next to the currently available black model. Go ahead and look through the images to see not just the obvious differences (you know…the white front and back of the device,) but also the more subtle ones. Things like the dock connector and headphone jack are also white, unlike what you’d find on the black model.
If you want to get your hands on a white iPhone 4, we’ll be sharing details soon on how you can get your hands on one, or get your black model converted with white parts. If you’re interested, let us know in the comments!

White iPhone 4 hands-on gallery

The white iPhone 4. Delayed multiple times, with current understanding that it will be available from Apple to the general public sometime before the end of the year, this is one of the most curious Apple delays in history. We’ve got our hands on a white iPhone 4 model—they aren’t non-existent by any means. In fact, a bunch of employees at Apple have them and use them as their primary device, and the factories over in Asia are pumping out the parts for these phones in order to perfect the white model to get it ready for the launch this fall.
We will be getting into a bit more about what’s holding up the white version of the iPhone 4 in just a bit, and we’ll also let you know how you can get your own. In our opinion, the white model is just gorgeous, but there are one or two things Apple will wanna fix before releasing them to the masses. For now, take a look at our white iPhone 4 hands-on gallery. One interesting note, it’s not just the front and back glass that are white—the dock connector is also white, as is the inside of the headphone jack.
