Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Hairstyles, News, Women,
Tyra Banks has decided to ditch her hair extensions! The model-turned-presenter is planning to show off her natural hairstyle on her TV series The Tyra Banks Show next month.
She wrote on her Twitter yesterday: “Guess What! I’m rockin’ my REAL hair on my talk show September 8th (sic).”
The 35-year-old beauty has insisted she won’t hide her real hair when she hosts the special show.
Tyra added: “No fake hair at all! Will be the hair coming out of my scalp! 4 all 2 C! No ponytails, no ballet bun head. Hair will be out and free (sic)!”
It seems the America’s Next Top Model judge made the daring decision to remove her hair extensions after experimenting with several different hair colors.

Solange Knowles Loses Her Locks
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Music, Hair Styles,
Solange Knowles has shaved her head.
The 23-year-old sister of Beyonce Knowles has ditched her flowing brown locks in favor of a closely cropped hairstyle, and has even taken to her blog to discuss her new look. She wrote on her Twitter page: “i wanna cut all myHair (sic) off & have a fade phase.”
Solange was spotted sporting the new style in Los Angeles last Wednesday, but seemed too nervous to debut it in the evening. When she walked the red carpet at a Dita Von Teese burlesque show, she had covered her shaven head with a long wig.
Later tweets explained the singer’s reason for making the drastic change. “i. just. wanted. to. be. free. from. the. bondage. that. black. women sometimes. put. on. themselves. with. hair.” Apparently there was a cost benefit from the decision as well: “this. phase. of. my. life. i. want to spend . the time. the energy. and the money. on something else. not in the hair salon.”

Raising the Bar’s Gosselaar on the Overdue Haircut
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Cable, TNT-HD, Gossip,
If there’s one thing Mark-Paul Gosselaar should have realized from his years playing Zack Morris, it’s this: The hair makes the man. Unfortunately, it took a whole season of Raising the Bar before that lesson was learned.
In an interview with TV Guide, the 35-year-old explained the reasoning behind his public defender’s distracting stringy look. “It defined a characteristic of Jerry [Kellerman], that he’s not going to conform to a system. But this year, we had to evolve Jerry. He had to mature, he had to become more tactful. So we cut his hair. It’s down with a story in mind also with a client that he’s working with.”

Jessica Simpson changes hairdresser?
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Hairstyles,
Jessica Simpson may have a new hairdresser. Jessica previously always worked with hair designer Ken Paves, and has even gone so far as to cancel photoshoots with magazines who refused to work with Ken. That’s some dedication. That’s why her staff was amazed at a recent Vanity Fair shoot, where Simpson agreed to allowing Oribe to style her hair.
Her spokesperson is quoted by the New York Post newspaper as saying: “The photographer, Mario Testino, insisted on his team, and we agreed. Mario is a genius. The photos are gorgeous and transformative.”
It has been claimed some stylists dislike working with Ken - who also styles Eva Longoria’s locks - because he isn’t considered “timely”. Jessica and Ken - who previously worked together on a range of hair extensions - have been close friends for years and are regularly seen enjoying evenings together.
Quote of the Day: Jennifer Garner on Ben Affleck’s Styling Skills
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Movies, Celebrity Babies,
“He dresses [Violet] and does her hair. It’s pretty funny. You can always tell when he has been at it, just two random barrettes hanging in there. It’s so sweet.”
-Jennifer Garner talking to InStyle magazine about her husband, Ben Affleck, and his way with the hair.

Unfortunate Hairstyle of the Day: Fergie
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, Hair Styles, Red Carpet,
At yesterday’s March of Dimes Beauty Ball in New York, Black Eyed Peas’ Fergie introduced much darker tresses to the red carpet.
And though I applaud the newlywed for trying something new, the 33-year-old’s new look wound up being far more somber than dramatic.

Bad Spelling Pun Aside… The Results are Hair!
Posted by Katie Gutierrez Painter Categories: Advice, Editorials, Entertainment, Fashion,
The almost-week since chopping off my hair has been a study in feminine power. On that first day, walking out of the salon clutching my 10-inch severed ponytail, I felt a strange combination of liberation and uncertainty. I no longer had the heavy weight of thick hair over my back and shoulders, and my neck felt bare and vulnerable. Later, of course, I thrilled at how quickly I could wash my hair in my crappy, low-water pressure shower, and marveled at how, when I pulled a blouse over my head, there was no hair to heave out from under it. But the feeling of uncertainty remained.
“Do I look stocky?” I asked my cornered husband. I narrowed my eyes at myself in the mirror and stood with my hands on my hips. Then I turned my stare to him. “So?”
“Um…no?” he replied and then quickly ducked out of the bathroom. Smart man.
I realize now that I did not look stocky; after all, if anything I had lost ounces, not gained them! But I felt that I’d also lost that element that has made women feel feminine and sexy for millennia: long hair. As the week wore on and I grew more used to my new reflection—and played with alternating looks between sleek and choppy—I couldn’t help but feel a little embarrassed at the attachment I had had to my hair. I mean, I’m a smart girl. I have a great career. I work out, and my body feels stronger and abler every day. Most of the time, I feel pretty confident. So why suddenly feel as though parts of those great characteristics had disappeared with my—let’s face it, slightly damaged—ponytail? Silly, silly, silly!
And now? I love feeling the early spring breeze tickle the back of my neck. I love that the tops of my shoulders show even when my hair is down. And it’s soo much fun experimenting with different makeup looks to go along with the hair. My advice to any of you ladies seeking self-discovery? Head to your stylist. With a sharp and shiny pair of scissors, she’ll be able to help you out.
Taking the Plunge… By Which I Mean the Chop
Posted by Katie Gutierrez Painter Categories: Advice, Editorials, Entertainment, Fashion,
Ladies, the tables have turned!
After five years of having very long hair, which I have to admit I think is one of my best features, the time has come. My appointment is February 25, and I’m anticipating chopping off about 12 inches. (I may need a glass of wine first.) I’ll be donating my briefly orphaned strands to Locks of Love, which I’m really excited about because frankly, who doesn’t want to do something nice for a sick child? I also think the cut will bring about some change in me (God knows what, but I can’t wait to find out!).
But what style should I ask for? The basics: It will likely fall somewhere between my jaw and chin, and I have full, blunt bangs. What are your favorite short haircuts? I challenge you to find the best! Send pictures, links; share your creativity! I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Oh, and what do you think of the image here? Could it be The Cut?
