Nicki Minaj Blames Target, Walmart Over Poor Album Sales

Nicki Minaj's 'Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded - the Re-UpWhen all else fails, blame your retailers.

Nicki Minaj was recently asked about why she thinks that the re-release of her Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded album (titled Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded - The Re-Up) didn't perform as well as its predecessor.

"It is hard to get the album because the stores basically said that the last few re-releases they had put out did not do well and they didn't want to take a chance. So, Target and Walmart is not selling the album. Target is actually my biggest retailer - they've always been my biggest retailer. They've sold the most Nicki Minaj albums ever, so, thank you, Target. But I wish you could've sold this one."

Slash: Music Has Lost Magic

SlashSlash thinks music has "lost its magic." The former Guns N' Roses guitarist thinks the modern popularity for purchasing albums through downloads lead to the listener missing out because they don't get a complete package that includes the visuals of artwork.

"There was a certain excitement that came with the release of a new record, and a lot of it was just the package itself, and it was something that you milled over while you were listening to the record. It was sad to see them sort of get phased out, but, you know, with CDs at least you still had the booklets, but now, when you look at the digital situation, you're like 'There's nothing in it,' you know. It's not even tangible any more. It's convenient, but you lose the magic of it."

The 46-year-old star is renowned for his musicianship yet he believes playing guitar well is a "never-ending process" and he practices every day: "The funny thing for me, obviously I think it's well known that I quit drinking a few years ago, and so instead of picking up some other bad habit I just put it all back into the guitar playing, so I probably play guitar more now than when I first started.

Marilyn Manson Announces Born Villain

Marilyn Manson and Shia LabeoufMarilyn Manson has confirmed his new album will be called Born Villain. The shock rocker announced his new record today through his website and has given a preview of it in the form of a music video, directed by Hollywood actor Shia LaBeouf.

The "Beautiful People" hitmaker's announcement read: "Born Villain is the title of the new Marilyn Manson album. While looking to experiment in unlikely collaborations, I met Shia, and we spent a long night at my studio. After seeing Maniac, his short film, which is somewhat inspired by Man Bites Dog, I was astonished by his directing ability. So I shared quite a few of my favorite inspirations in art, literature, and obviously.film. We ended up writing a short film, and just recently released a trailer. The score is from my new album, and is, in the words of Macbeth, `full of sound and fury.'"

My Chemical Romance Working on New Album

My Chemical RomanceMy Chemical Romance are writing new songs "every day." The "Sing" group expect there to be a much shorter period between albums than the four year gap between third album The Black Parade and last year's Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, as they are planning to return to the studio later this year.

"We're writing music every day at the moment, which was something that wasn't happening on Black Parade. The thing is that the band was in a really unhealthy place when Black Parade ended and now the band is in such a healthy place that there's no more 'I want to run away' or 'It's about me.' Now it's like this is what I do and I want to do this for the rest of my life. Everybody's so happy," frontman Gerard Way said.

Avril Lavigne Starts Writing New Album

Avril Lavigne in June 2011Pop-punk musician Avril Lavigne has already written eight songs for her next album. The "Smile" singer only released her fourth album, Goodbye Lullaby in March, but is keen to follow it up quickly, and has already been working on tracks.

"I already have 8 songs! I would like to release the 5th album really quick (sic). This record was more mellow, and the next one will be pop and more fun again. I already have a song that I know is going to be a single, I just need to re-record it (sic)!" she wrote on fan site Avril Lavigne Band Aids.

The 26-year-old also revealed she will be performing a cover of Coldplay's "Fix You" as part of her set when she tours this summer. Avril also caused controversy at the weekend when she appeared at the MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto, Canada, as she swore during her performance of "What the Hell," which was broadcast live on TV.

Aerosmith: New Album on the Way

AerosmithThe feud between Steven Tyler and Joe Perry is over. Along with the other members of Aerosmith, the rockers will get to work on a new album this summer.

According to Tyler, he and Perry smoked a “peace pipe” to at last bury the hatchet. Reportedly, the rift began when Tyler accepted his current American Idol judging gig.

But Aerosmith isn’t going to question a good thing anymore. Since Steven Tyler started appearing on the new season of the reality gorilla, sales of the band’s greatest hits have increased 250%.
