With iOS 6 set to debut next week at WWDC 2012, rumors about what we'll see in the next major version of Apple's mobile operating system are heating up, and 9to5Mac is reporting that Siri will make its debut on the iPad at the event. In the mockup above, you see how Siri for the iPad is described to look. The interface isn't full-screen, and instead slides up from the bottom of the iPad display. All the Siri features from the iPhone 4S are present in the iPad version, and there are also rumors that Siri will see upgraded functionality that will allow it to do more things in iOS 6 as well. We'll have all the details from WWDC when it kicks off next week on June 11.

Apple to debut Facebook integration in iOS 6 at WWDC

TechCrunch has learned through a source that iOS 6, set to debut next week at WWDC 2012, will include system-level Facebook integration. This means that you'll be able to log in to Facebook in iOS 6 itself, similar to how you can currently do the same with multiple Twitter accounts in iOS 5.

After much speculation, Facebook integration will indeed be baked into the latest version of iOS, we’ve learned. [...]

To be clear, Twitter will still very much be a part of the new iOS (presumably named “iOS 6″ and codenamed “Sundance“), and that company will be holding sessions at WWDC to chat more about the continued partnership (including the integration into the forthcoming OS X Mountain Lion). But Facebook integration will be very important for iOS — tons of apps use Facebook for sign-ups and authentication (many use Facebook as the only way to do this, to the dismay of some).

Details of how exactly sharing will work remain a mystery, since Facebook has a more customized set of privacy options on a per-post basis, and of course, things can always change at the last minute and Facebook integration could end up being scrapped again (it was a planned feature for iOS 4.) However, Apple CEO, Tim Cook, recently suggested that we will see more out of Apple and Facebook shortly with the phrase "Stay tuned."

Sonos 3.8 update brings Mountain Lion, Android 4.0, Sonos SUB support

The peeps over at Sonos seem to have learned from their way and, rather than being late to the party, this time it's released the new Sonos 3.8 software ahead of time to ensure compatibility with OS X Mountain Lion. Android 4.0 also gets official support with this update, as does the upcoming Sonos Sub, the new wireless subwoofer add-on that the company will be releasing in June. You can grab the updated software for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and PC, and the software will then update all your Sonos hardware, ensuring everything is ready for the future.

iOS 6 Maps app preview

As previously reported, Apple is set to replace Google Maps in iOS 6 with an in-house solution that's the result of the company acquiring mapping companies like C3 Technologies, Poly9, and Placebase. Today, we see leaked screenshots from a BGR "trusted source" that shows off a bit more of what we can expect.

The screenshots show that the new 3D mode is certainly in the works in build 10A314 of iOS 6. Again, this is a total replacement for Google Maps, allowing Apple to provide the exact Maps experience that it want to provide on the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. We expect to get a full preview of iOS 6 at WWDC next month.

The Chronic Dev Team has just released the first untethered jailbreak for the latest iOS devices that house an A5 or A5X processor. This means that owners of the iPhone 4S, the new iPad (2012), and the iPad 2 can get in on the untethered jailbreak game. This means that you no longer need to connect to a computer each time you need to restart your device in order to maintain your jailbreak. That is good news!

Since then, we've seen tons of comments on Facebook and Twitter from people who are making fun of the company for releasing a new app that competes with Instagram, the photo sharing app and company that Facebook just acquired for $1 billion. IBM disables Siri on employee iPhones in the name of security

IBM Siri disabled

In an interview with MIT publication Technology Review, IBM CIO Jeanette Horan admitted that the company disables the use of Siri on employee iPhone smartphones. Why is that? Well, since anything spoken to Siri is sent and stored on Apple servers, the thinking is that employees may speak things that shouldn't be in the hands of anyone but IBM--and certainly not in the hands of one of its toughest competitors.

It's not just Siri that's not allowed. Cloud sharing tools like Dropbox and iCloud are also disabled, and employees aren't even allowed to forward internal IBM email message to external non-IBM addresses.

Safari Reading List to pick up offline mode in Mountain Lion

While troubleshooting a home network issue today, I stumbled upon a new feature that Apple is introducing in OS X Mountain Lion. Many have referred to the Safari Reading List feature that debuted in Lion and iOS 5 as a glorified list of bookmarks. That's kind of true, although Reading List can also let you know which items you've read and which you haven't, and also gives you a text preview of each item as well. However in Mountain Lion you are able to read your Reading List items even when you're offline.

When you aren't connected to a network and pull up Safari, you get a message that tells you that you aren't connected to the Internet, but that your "Reading List articles are available for viewing while you are offline." Definitely a nice bonus when you wanna read some stuff but have no way of browsing the web.
