Blooming HibiscusTrying to score with your partner/spouse this Valentines Day? Drop some Wild Hibiscus Flower syrup into anything carbonated and watch it go from a small bud into a full edible bloom. Treat your loved one to this unique flower that not only looks impressive, but tastes like raspberry/rhubarb. This one comes from Australia for a price of $13.95 per bottle. We just wonder if you use the whole bottle, do you get gigantic results?

(Thanks, Jen)

Moldable MouseThere are a lot of ergonomic mice that we think are frankly not all that comfortable, much less saving us a case of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Lite-on has developed a concept that you can use to make your own mouse the way that is best for your hands. The prototype is made of modeling clay and covered with nylon and polyurethane so you can give it any shape you desire on its base of PC/ABS recyclable plastic. It also features built-in RFID, a touch sensitive scroll pad, laser optics, and runs on batteries. Hopefully winning the Red Dot Award recently will spur them into making the mouse a reality.

Remake Design Cubes

The French company Remake Design has created light-up cubes that you can put together, modify, and rearrange to get your point across. Each module has a 10W Xenon bulb and can be screwed to the wall or attached to each other by magnets. They offer a set of four for $300.00 and you can do your own thing depending on your mood or business. Suggested designs vary from a simple hello, to a business name, to Pac-Man, if you can’t get past the game.

Unità ZeroWe dig anything that makes music electronically, especially if it involves a touch of creativity. Unità Zero takes the five senses and users hands and feet to create its own tunes. It consists of light feedback, video sequencing, and audio mixing. With 5 platform assemblies, the thought behind it is, “Five are the senses, many more the combinations of feelings. If senses describe reality, their combination is an ideal and intangible depiction.”

What more can we say except where does taste come in? Unità Zero makes its debut at dorkbot in Germany this week.

Today, the brick turned 50 years old. That is quite an achievement for a toy that, at first glance, is so simple. I guess that just reiterates that while you can pack every feature under the sun into a device, simplicity is really what matters. Just take a look at some of ‘s recent innovations to see what I mean. Anyhow, back to LEGO. My friend Joel Johnson over at Boing Boing Gadgets decided it best to spend a couple weeks worth of evenings putting together the Ultimate Collectors Millennium Falcon LEGO set. This thing features over 5,000 individual parts that need to be carefully fit together to create one bad-ass looking piece of LEGO beauty - a daunting task, indeed. Joel created a time lapse video, which we have posted above for your enjoyment.

Gameboy BrickYou want to redecorate your backyard but still maintain the fact that you live for Nintendo as far back as the original Gameboys. How about some bricks to liven up your yard? The creator had arranged them into a wall and in the ground back in 2006 and claims that they are still intact, unlike most of those portable gaming systems. Each one is $45.00 apiece, fairly pricey for something that just lies there. But we figure you can always turn your front bushes into leafy Mario Brothers to match.

Globus, move over. Not as simple as van der Kley‘s unique design, Andrew Maynard and team have created the Design Pod. The compact home office is also on wheels and can be placed in a walk-in closet when not in use. The architects have this to say about their invention, “By using technology to create a sense of ownership and territory, we can empower the individual, while maintaining a free and fluid work / studio environment.” Goodness, all that in a box? We would settle for a new desk chair.

GlobusHow truly creative of Michiel van der Kley to have devised a portable office not in the shape of a cubicle. One half of Globus is for sitting, swivel-style, while the other can be used for your laptop or lunch. We especially like that it is literally mobile, with its wheels lockable once you find a place to rest and reflect. We assumed that it was a concept, but were apparently wrong as it is available in many shades and colors. Contact Artifort if you want more info.

Nokia 7900 Prism

With new phones coming out every time we blink, we found one that we really appreciate for its looks. (Vain, aren’t we?) Collaborating with France’s Frédérique Daubal, Nokia’s 7900 joins its Prism Collection with an aluminum back and crystal key in the center, surrounded by diamond-cut patterns. It has 1 GB memory, an OLED display, a 2 megapixel cam, and comes in a choice of 49 key pad colors. Vanity does not come cheaply. The phone has a MSRP of ~$544.00. Contact Nokia for details.

Pocket ProtectorYou know things are getting pretty commercial when online gadget-oriented companies actually sell pocket protectors. At a size of 5 3/4 x 3 3/8, it is made of vinyl and has multiple storage compartments for a pen, flash drive and MP3 player. It even comes with a sheet of stickers and a 36-inch lanyard in case you want to prove that you are a bonafide geek. At a mere price of $4.95, it would, at the very least, be a great Secret Santa gift next Christmas.
