The Japanese company Dreams has unveiled their new portable speaker. The Sound Ball is designed for your PMP and small enough to be kept on a key chain. Available in purple, pink, or green, the gadget features a built-in rechargeable battery and an on/off button. Hook it to your cell phone, backpack, or laptop when not in use. The Sound Ball comes with a USB charge cord and stereo mini-cable. It carries a price of $39.99.

Neuton has released the CE 6.2 Mower. The energy conscious company’s product has a removable, rechargeable battery that will run about an hour on an 8 hr. charge. The cost of recharging is only about a dime, a price that puts a gallon of gas to shame. The lawnmower cuts a 19-inch path with 360 watt-hours of energy. At the end of the summer, fold up its handlebars and stow it in a closet or under a table. The CE 6.2 comes with a collection bag, a side discharge chute, a mulching plug, a battery charger, and safety key. The price is $449.00 for a tool that should pay for itself in about a season.

For all you Zune fans out there, you will be pleased to know that the Zune 3.0 software went live this morning, and is ready for your consumption. The update brings a slew of new features to the table, with a lot of them being firsts in the industry (we’re looking at you, iTunes). What you’ve got is the desktop software update, alongside a firmware update for the actual Zune devices as well. And just like last year, the updates work on all previous generation Zunes as well - at no cost to you (we’re looking at you iPod touch!).

We have long been a fan of Kenwood, so it is nice to see they are offering a compact system. The UD-E77WSD has a CD player and SD slot for 32GB cards and a USB port for downloading tunes from your other SD cards or DAP. The system supports AAC, WMA, MP3, and WAV files as well as 24bit DAC high resolution sound. The player features Kenwood’s Supreme Technology and comes with a remote that is probably more difficult to use than the system itself.

Running Windows in OS X is still cool, even if software like Parallels, VMware Fusion, and Boot Camp have been around for a while. Now though, Fusion has hit 2.0, which is a nice milestone. Time to fire up Software Update yet again, as Apple has just pushed out the latest update to Leopard, 10.5.5. There’s a lot here, but being the email warriors that we are, seeing all the Mail.app improvements makes us just a tad bit exited. We are also into the MobileMe fixes as well. Gotta love the cloud. Jailbreak iPhone 2.1 with PwnageTool and QuickPWN

Since everything and their mother has been writing in requesting follow-up on the iPod touch 2.1 jailbreak, we figured we’d better respond. Latest is that you can now jailbreak iPhone 2.1 as well, and the GUI version of the iPod touch 2.1 firmware is available as well (thanks for letting us know, QuickPWN!). The one thing that isn’t yet done is the jailbreak of the newer iPod touch 2G, but that is only because no one on the Dev Team has happened to pick one up yet. I’m sure we’ll be seeing it in the next few days. You just can’t keep these guys down.

Woman in Legal Battle with UMP Over YouTube Clip

Stephanie Lenz uploaded a 30 second clip of her toddler son dancing to Prince’s song “Let’s Go Crazy” to share with family and friends back in February 2007. Universal Music Publishing insisted the music was “not authorized by the copyright owner” and asked that it be removed. To make a long story short, Stephanie is now involved in a lengthy legal battle, backed by the Electronic Frontier Foundation. The clip has received almost 700,000 hits because of the publicity.
We know how she feels. We were recently notified that a video we shot of the Village People was taken down from YouTube after it was considered to be a copyright infringement. Considering they only have one surviving member singing in the group, you think they would have appreciated the extra publicity.
