Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Design, Home Entertainment, Smart Home, Misc. Tech,
If the up and coming HP TouchSmart isn’t shiny enough for you, we suggest Whirlpool’s centralpark Connection. The refrigerator/freezer’s interchangeable interface allows you to charge and/or play a DVD/CD player, an MP3 player, or a digital photo album. There are also options of an interactive message board, Web Tablet, or family calendar.
Expected to be released this fall, you can contact Whirlpool for price and availability. In the meantime, think about its entertainment value for the rest of your family as you are still stuck with the drudgery of preparing dinner.

Cleveland Cavalier Fans Get Electronic Ticketing
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Internet, Misc. Tech,
One third of Cleveland Cavalier fans have begun using Flash Seats, owner Dan Gilbert’s answer to paper ticketing. Simply swipe your drivers license or credit card at the arena to complete a transaction. Not only does Gilbert find this to be a solution for saving a tree, he also believes that it will thwart scalpers’ efforts to double or triple the list price.
“I hope to be in every league starting next fall,” says Flash Seats chief executive officer Sam Gerace.
Ticketless registration is already a $10 billion-a-year industry, with about $3 billion being sold online. Ticket holders can transfer seats by e-mail and even sell them through Flash Seats with a 20% buyer fee.

Ray Gun to Thwart Bad Guys by Fear of Fire
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Design, Misc. Tech, Science,
Want to stop those harmful terrorists in their tracks? Meet the military’s new “active denial system,” a non-lethal ray gun that shoots out a beam that makes them feel as if they are going to catch on fire. Demonstrated yesterday for the media, this dish antenna mounted on a Humvee was aimed and fired at brave volunteers. Thank goodness the new tactical gadget is not slated to come out until 2010. Hopefully by then we will have come to our senses and our troops will be home.

Cosmic Rust is offering free downloads of prototype paper-created Transformers, so you can relive the whole 80’s experience if you used to be as addicted to the action figures as we were. They come on PDF with detailed instructions, just in case you can’t remember what they were actually supposed to represent. We would give you more details, but we are too busy trying to recreate Ultra Magnus before Dreamworks/Spielberg’s “Transformer” Movie comes out this July and Cosmic Rust decides to charge for the privilege.
