We already know that the U.S. is now obsessed with the first family and are scrambling for memorabilia, from dolls named Malia and Sasha to a collector’s edition of Spiderman, but when we saw Japan’s tribute we really cracked up. In an odd world where good still wins over evil, the president will certainly triumph over Darth Vader. The action figure set comes with 3 sets of hands, two ties, microphone, megaphone, watch, flag and stool (but no now-approved BlackBerry) at a price of ¥8090 (~$91.00.) Light sabers sold separately.

Yet another company is suffering from the bad economy. Logitech announced that sales were down in Q3 2009. Sales amounted to $627 million, a decrease of 16% compared to $744 million in the same quarter last year. In addition to them reducing their operating expenses, they will be cutting back about 600 employees. The beleaguered company will be restructuring over the next year and has hopes that it will see results beginning in 2010.

Businesses that have a few extra parking spaces and about $850,000 extra in their budget can invest in the GEM (Green Energy Machine) to crunch up trash. The generator accepts food, cardboard, plastic and organic waste, shreds it and turns it into pellets. These are then fed into a gasifier which produces synthetic gas that burns in a natural-gas microturbine. GEM will not accept metal and class because they have no energy content and can convert up to three tons of waste. Here’s hoping some enterprising person/company will create a GEM for the rest of us at lesser prices.

Belkin Employee Asks Turkers for Amazon Reviews

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Internet, Misc. Tech,

Anyone who has ever Turked knows that there are some pretty silly requests sometimes for very little bucks (most are less than a nickel each, depending on the complexity and work involved.) It seems that Belkin employee Michael Bayard (or someone using his name) posted a hit on the site offering $.65 for positive reviews on the company’s products listed on Amazon. After being contacted, Belkin’s president Mark Reynoso issued a response, apologized and claimed that they have removed all postings as well as the fake reviews.
