BakerTweet Alerts Customers on Twitter

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Internet, Misc. Tech, Videos, Wireless / WiFi,
Twitter is not just for people anymore. BakerTweet, designed by Poke London, lists their bakery goods when they come out of oven. The device is an Arduino board and Linksys WiFi adapter combined in a box. They scroll through a list and push a button to send out a pre-configured tweet. Installed in the Albion Cafe in London, it already has a following of over 300 customers. It’s easy to understand why when you read one of their descriptions:
“Rocks of buttery, raisiny joy, freshly risen scones to slather with cream and jam - just being set out now.”
Yummy. We are thinking that this may be a new trend and could be used in reverse, say if you were on your way home and wanted to pick up a pizza. “Dude, make me a Meat Lovers Med.”

This is no ordinary Bic. You can show everyone of your desire to either go into space or that you are horrifically bored at work with the Astronaut Rocket Pen. Push the ignition control button and it takes off up to a height of a whopping 36 inches. Space Shuttle and Titan Rocket pens are also available, each with a price of $8.94. We hope that helmet keeps the landing from becoming an inky mess.

TweetCall - Twitter by Voice

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Handhelds, Internet, Misc. Tech, PC / Laptop,
Poor texters can now use TweetCall to speak their messages. A free service, after signing up, you dial up 1-877-TWEETCALL, tweet a bit and your voice is transcribed. The service is powered by Quicktate that uses real humans to proofread for correct syntax, spelling, punctuation and capitalization, not that most use them in the first place. And speaking rather than typing may result in your being cut off because you went past your 140 character limit.

Kyle A. Koch was really jazzed with his iPhone because it kept everything in one place. He would snap pictures of things, such as class assignments, so he wouldn’t lose them. But since they didn’t always come out clear enough, he designed the Scandock. At a size of 15.5 x 9.5 x 15-inches, it is made of corrugated cardboard and comes flat packed for a mere $16.00. He will engrave a logo on it and you can download his .eps files for free. There is limited distribution of the Scandock, but contact Kyle to work something out.

Hearst to Launch Newspaper e-Reader

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Corporate News, Misc. Tech,
Publisher Hearst Corp. is intending to come out with an electronic reader for magazines and newspapers. While media group chief Kenneth Bronfin wouldn’t give out many details, he says that it is because of an investment that the company made with E Ink, the company that supplies Amazon’s Kindle and Sony’s Reader electronic ink technology. Hearst will sell the e-readers to publishers and receive a portion of the revenue. Look for the new device, which should be about the size of a standard sheet of paper, later this year.
