Sanyo LP-WXU700 WiFi Projector

Sanyo Japan has unveiled their LP-WXU700 Projector, supposedly the world’s first to be WiFi enabled. At a size of 334.2 X 78.4 X 257.5mm and weight of 3.6kg, it supports the IEEE802.11n standard and is designed for portability. The WXGA projector has a 500:1 contrast ratio, 3,800 lumens of brightness and can stream video through a PC. HDMI and USB interfaces are included as well. On sale in Japan on June 19 for ~$6,300.00, there is no word as yet to when it will arrive in other countries.

SGP Metal Skins for Electronics

SGP makes metal skins for iPhones, iPods, cell phones, MP3 players, laptops and cameras. Each is made of 24K gold plating or thin nickel and comes with a precision cut face plate. One look at the instructions tells you that you had better have a steady hand. The company even posts a warning:
“Handle with Care. Thin and Sharp edge of this product may cause hurt.”
Each kit comes with skin and accessory stickers at prices between $14.99 and $24.99, but if that sounds too risky, they also have carbon fiber, wood and leather covers.

With all the hoopla over the new Kindle DX, we think it is nice that someone has come up with a Braille E-Book. Translation of a 500 page book can double the thickness of the tome, so designers Seon-Keun Park, Byung-Min Woo, Sun-Hye Woo and Jin-Sun Park use EAP technology to change the surface pattern via electromagnetic signals. This is still a prototype but maybe Amazon can make it its next hot product.

Kenwood Speakers/OLED Lighting

Kenwood has developed stereo speakers that also contain OLED lighting. The company claims that there will be about 80% energy savings, which means you can purchase a couple more speakers. Kenwood also plans on using the light/speaker as an energy-efficient Fire Exit sign that can double as a loudspeaker and deliver emergency announcements. We hope they plan on using very calm voices if used in public venues.
