It also features a 1.3 mp camera and microSD slot. It has Bluetooth 2.0 capability with A2DP for stereo headsets, and of course it has VZ navigator and can receive V CAST Music with a Rhapsody subscription. You can get the electric blue Blitz now for $69.99 online with a 2 year subscription.

Kapsys Kapten GPS System

Never get lost jogging again. The French company Kapsys has unveiled their Kapten mini portable GPS device without a screen. Designed for pedestrians rather than vehicles, its interface works with voice recognition or text-to-speech. At a size of only 74 x 44 x 13mm and a weight of 50g, it has TeleAtlas from France but other cities are downloadable. The Kapten has a SiRF Star III receiver and can hold up to 4GB memory. It also can do Bluetooth and is an MP3 player and FM tuner. Look for a mid-September launch for £150 (~$300.00.)

Sri Lanka To Require Cell Phone Certificate of Ownership

In an effort to thwart terrorists, Sri Lanka plans to enact legislation that requires cell phone users to carry a certificate of ownership. It also means that they cannot lend their phone to others. The TRC (Telecommunication Regulatory Authority) says that the regulations will also affect wireless CDMA handsets. The latest estimates say that over 20,000 cellies are entering the country illegally every month. That puts a whole new slant on your fave five.

IFR Aspid Unidrive

IFR (a company created by Spain’s motorsport engineer Ignacio Fernández Rodriquez) has designed the Unidrive. The gadget features a touchscreen to monitor and alter power output, ABS, brake balance, traction, and more. The units for driver and co-driver also have GPS, GPRS/GSM, accelerometers, and WiFi and Ethernet capability. In order to display the technology to the fullest extent, he and his team are installing them in Aspids (Spanish for asp.) Obviously the company is going after high end customers as each Aspid is built to suit the driver and will cost about £75,000 ($148,000.)
