Tin Can Speakers

Show off your designer attitude and, at the same time, your admiration of creative ingenuity. The company boosted mobile, which caters mostly to consumers ages 14 to 34, is offering its Limited Edition Tin Can Speaker Set (Volume One.) Only 400 were made, but each pair is compatible with most MP3 players (including iPods,) computers, TVs, and video game systems. Battery operated, they were created by street artists MINT (Mikhail Sokovikov,) SERF (Jason Wall), and Mainframe (Dean Bradley) as a showcase for their talents and are available for $99.99 a pair. We can hardly wait to see what Volume 2 will look like.

Office Commando

If you’re a 9 to 5’er, you undoubtedly have that one seemingly-calm-but-slightly-creepy co-worker—whom you know will one day bring an AK-47 to work and mow everyone down. Here’s your chance to be a good Samaritan and save lives. First, quietly befriend said co-worker, because he undoubtedly needs a pal. Then, during holiday season, gift him with the Office Commando, a toy office drone who’s mad as hell and isn’t gonna take it anymore. Use the pencil to move him around, shoot his gun and activate his catchphrases. Your new friend will love it—and more importantly live vicariously through it. Voila! You’ve saved yourself and your co-workers from certain death, and made a sociopathic new friend at the same time. All for $15 USD.

J. Lo USB Flash Drive

These days, making fun of is the equivalent of shooting fish in a barrel. And the Latina diva is not doing herself any favors with this gadget she‘s endorsed. To promote the release of her new CD “Brave”, the multi-hyphenate, along with luxury cellphone company Gresso, released a limited edition 1GB flash drive, made of African mahogany and engraved with her initials.  The drive also includes a copy of “Brave.” Not so bad…until you discover the drive costs a whopping $70 USD! This writer actually likes some of Jenny’s songs and flicks (yeah, I said it), but feels the expectant mom is in serious need of an ego check.

Tom Bihn brain cell memory foamWe have written about Tom Bihn’s ultra-protective Brain Cell before, and were pleased to see this morning that the Brain Cell line has been updated with a memory foam lining which adds even more protection to the precious laptops they are designed to protect. The new strip of memory foam is nestled into the bottom of the Brain Cell - it’s the white layer shown in the picture to the right.

Memory foam plus the regular foam they use is better because it absorbs more energy due to its slower recovery than regular foam. The strip of memory foam at the bottom of the Brain Cell is an extra step and an extra layer of protection: should the case be dropped, the bottom of the foam sling will push into the memory foam instead of just air. If you have an expensive laptop and don’t have a case for it head over to ‘s website to pick up this $60 wonder bag to keep your laptop safe and sound from life’s little bumps and bruises.

Oh, and if you want to see how the bags are made, check out our Tom Bihn video tour.

Nokia BH-101Nokia has unveiled their lightweight BH-101 at SEMA in Vegas this week. You can get up to 8 hours of talk time and 180 of standby on the Bluetooth headset. The ear piece can function with EDR 2.0, Handsfree v1.5, and Headset 1.1. It features an adjustable earloop for use on either side and Nokia reports that the headset will be out just in time for the holidays with an estimated €30 (~$43.00.) We find now that when we see folks walking around in public with an earpiece that they become as instantly annoying as those who speak extra loudly on their cell phones.
