iFlip

So you have that newfangled video iPod and you want to watch at all those TV shows you downloaded, but you’re tired of squinting to see the details? No problem. Memorex is there for you, with the iFlip - a video screen in which you plug the iPod, allowing you to see those tiny images come to gloriously colorful life. Yes, you can buy that S-Video cord and hook up your ‘Pod to your superfly HDTV, but what about when you’re on the go? This is iFlip’s biggest selling point, its portability.

The screen on this device is 8.4 inches wide, a significant on the 2.5-inch screen that you have on your iPod. Oh, and if you really want to, you can take this baby home, hook it up to the big screen, and let the images fly.

If you’re salivating for this product, we’re sorry to say that it’s not on store shelves yet. Memorex has targeted September as its release month. We do know the price, though - $200 USD.

SlipstreamzI can’t help it. I worry every time my wife goes for a bike ride with her iPod earbuds stuck in her ears. I worry that she won’t hear the danger until it’s too late. Seems the folks at Slipstreamz have similar thoughts. They’ve come out with headphones designed specifically for those who love seeing their scenery while passing by on two wheels. The ‘phones are a nifty combination of form and function, allowing you to keep the buds in your ear while also picking up a noise that could mean that harm is approaching. Even if you rock on out at high volumes, these handy headphones should help you hear the blaring horn of the vehicle that is bearing down on you.

A good amount of thought was put in to designing these babies, too, because they’re designed to attach to the straps of your cycling helmet, holding them in place. And they also double as ear warmers, also blocking the wind from shooting past your sensitive ears.

You can pick up a pair of these handy headphones here for the nominal fee of 7.5 pounds. That’s about 13 dollars American. I’m getting a pair for my wife.

MotionLingo AdeoIf Kevin Tofel is to be believed, the MotionLingo Adeo kills the Nike+iPod product dead in it’s tracks. The device offers similar functionality - track your run while listening to music, receive audible feedback over your music, and data analysis. The thing is, the Adeo just happens to do it to a much greater degree. This thing will give you an overlay of the route you just ran on a Google Map (using it’s GPS), has a dashboard with all sorts of reporting features (including the tracking of how many miles total you have run in your current pair of shoes), and can be configured to give you audible feedback on just about anything you can think of. Of course, this all comes at a price. The MotionLingo Adeo sells for $149.99 USD, while the Nike+iPod kit is just $29. However, with Nike+iPod, you do have to buy that $100 pair of shoes, so this may not be a bad trade-off in the least.
