Beyonce Dominates Grammy Nominations

Beyonce has been nominated for ten Grammy awards.

The “Halo” singer and - who has been recognized in eight categories - were revealed as the most nominated artists at yesterday’s Grammy Nominations Concert Live! event. The two stars will be competing against each other for the coveted Record, Song and Album of the Year prizes.

Kanye West, soul singer Maxwell and the Black Eyed Peas all received six nominations, while Jay-Z, French DJ David Guetta and Lady Gaga are each up for five awards.

Lady Gaga’s The Fame and single “Poker Face” were both nominated in the top categories while the Peas are in the running for Album of the Year (The E.N.D.) and Record of the Year (“I Gotta Feeling”). ‘s “Use Somebody” made the list for both Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

Dave Matthews Band’s Big Whiskey And The Groogrux King was the final nomination for Album of the Year, while Maxwell’s “Pretty Wings” rounded off the Song of the Year nominations.

The 52nd annual Grammy Awards will take place on January 31 in Los Angeles. You can find a complete list of nominees here.

As if we needed any more reason to admire the talent of , we just came across this video of her from her pre-Gaga (and pre-blonde) days. Here, she is performing at the annual NYU talent show as Stefani Germanotta, performing Captivated and Electric Kiss while playing piano.

We also like what she says at the 5:48 mark in the video posted after the break. She is definitely cognizant about her surroundings, and her role in the music business. Listen to her comments about her album, The Fame, as well as Princess Diana.

Lady Gaga says she’d die without fame

Lady GagaAccording to , she would “die” if she wasn’t famous. Lady Gaga, who is well known for her eccentric fashion sense, bizarre make-up choices, and party lifestyle, can’t stand the thought of life away from the public eye, and wouldn’t be able to cope with normal life.

Lady Gaga said: “There are times when it can be a lot to deal with but always when I get up in the morning I try to find that very joyful place that reminds me that I would die if someone took it all away. If someone did that I wouldn’t be a person any more.”

After years of singing in clubs and penning tracks for stars including , the 23-year-old beauty - who topped the UK charts with her debut album The Fame - is grateful of her newfound success. She explained: “I have such an appreciation for where I am in my life because I’ve struggled and because I couldn’t get signed, and because I couldn’t get played on the radio.”

But the eccentric star, who went to the elite Convent of the Sacred Heart School with Paris and Nicky Hilton, relishes the opportunity to be herself. She said: “Right now the only thing that I am concerned with in my life is being an artist. I had to suppress it for so many years in high school because I was made fun of but now I’m completely insulated in my box of insanity and I can do whatever I like.”
