UPDATE: Overdose Cause of Springsteen Cousin’s Death

Lenny Sullivan, who was the “Working On A Dream” singer’s assistant road manager, died on October 26 and autopsy results released this week showed he passed away of “acute amphetamine and heroin intoxication.” Sullivan’s body was found in his hotel room shortly before Bruce was to take to the stage. The discovery forced Bruce Springsteen to cancel his concert in Kansas City that night.

A statement on the singer’s website posted soon after the death read: “Lenny Sullivan, Bruce’s cousin and the assistant road manager of the E Street Band for the last 10 years, passed away today at the age of 36. A warm and sensitive person, he was beloved by Bruce, the Band, the crew, and the entire Thrill Hill family.”

Family Death Reason for Canceled Springsteen Concert

A death in ‘s immediate family resulted in the cancellation of his Kansas City concert tonight. The announcement came less than two hours before the show was to begin.

“Lenny Sullivan, Bruce’s cousin and the assistant road manager of the E Street Band for the last ten years, passed away today at the age of 36. A warm and sensitive person, he was beloved by Bruce, the Band, the crew, and the entire Thrill Hill family,” read the statement on Springsteen’s website.
