Muse Makes Live Return

Muse made their live return in London last night.
The "Survival" trio closed the annual iTunes festival in spectacular fashion, treating fans to a selection of material from their new album The 2nd Law, as well as classic tracks from their back catalogue.
Although the smaller venue meant the group did away with their usual stunning laser show and complex stage setting, video screens running around the venue and frontman Matt Bellamy's dazzling sparkling jacket meant there was still a visual spectacle accompanying the music.
The group opened their set with "Supremacy," with Matt taking the opportunity to reveal one of his heroes was in the crowd. "That last song was a little bit influenced by a certain Jimmy Page - who I believe is in the building," he said after the song.
While preview material has hinted at the trio going in a dub-step direction, Matt used the show to prove their experimentation isn't new. Introducing 2003 single "Time Is Running Out," he quipped, "Listen to the dub-step bassline on this."

Mumford and Sons Nervous About Headlining Arenas
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Concerts / Tours, Performances, Folk, Rock, New Releases,

Mumford and Sons are nervous about headlining arenas. The band have just released their second album Babel and announced a huge run of shows - including their first ever arenas in the UK - and are worried about making their sound big enough to fill such huge spaces.
"We've only ever done five [arenas] I think. We did three in Canada, one in Portland, Oregon and one in Amsterdam and it was quite difficult. Big respect to bands who do arenas because, it's a big space to fill," band member Winston Marshall said. "It's hard to connect but it's also kind of epic and a part of us always wanted to achieve those things," band member Ben Lovett added.

KISS Taught Deadmau5 How to Perform
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Concerts / Tours, Gossip, Performances, Electronic, Rock,
Deadmau5 learned his showmanship from KISS. The producer wears a mouse-shaped helmet when performing and is known for putting on one of the most spectacular visual shows in dance music - making him one of the most highly paid DJs in the world - and he claims the idea came from the 70s glam rock band.
"The big turnaround for me was going to a Kiss concert. They're terrible. They suck so bad. I hope they don't read this. But their show is a f***ing show. They put a lot into making it entertaining. At one point, the guitarist pulls out a fricking bazooka and blows off a bit off the stage. How things have changed. I remember when [Nine Inch Nails frontman] Trent Reznor used to bring out a crappy old keyboard and smash it up, and everyone would say: 'Oh wow, that was so cool, we were at the concert where Trent snapped and smashed up his keyboard!' Bull***t. He used to do that every night. I loved the theatrics. It's about spectacle. That's what I realized."

Madonna Takes Another Swipe at Lady Gaga
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Concerts / Tours, Gossip, Performances, Pop,
Madonna has taken another swipe at Lady Gaga.
The singer dedicated her track "Masterpiece" to the younger star during a performance in Atlantic City, New Jersey, over the weekend, and appeared to accuse her of imitating her. "I love her. I love her. I do love her. Imitation is the highest form of flattery," she told the crowd. She then cryptically added, "And one day, very soon, we're gonna be on stage together. Just you wait."
Madonna, 54, has previously accused Gaga, 26, of copying her track "Express Yourself" on her single "Born This Way." She said, "I thought, 'What a wonderful way to redo my song'. I mean, I recognized the chord changes. I thought it was... interesting." During her current MDNA tour the star has also been performing a version of "Express Yourself" which leads into "Born This Way."

Mel C Hints Spice Girls Could Perform Again
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Concerts / Tours, Gossip, Performances, Reunions, Pop,
Mel C has hinted the Spice Girls could perform together again.
The five girls - Mel, Geri Halliwell, Victoria Beckham, Mel B and Emma Bunton - reunited to appear at the London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony and although it was perceived to be a one-off, the 38-year-old singer isn't so sure.
"It was amazing. We always think, 'That's it, we'll never do anything together again.' But 'never say never' is one of our mottos!" she said.
Mel is still shocked that people are still interested in the group 16 years after they released their debut single "Wannabe." She mused, "People are still intrigued by us but, at the end of the day, we're just five normal girls - even Victoria!"
Mel - who has just released her sixth solo album Stages - loves seeing the girls and she considers the other four members her best friends: "I love them dearly. We're older now and have a lot more respect for each other. We're also appreciative of each other because we know that, without one another, we wouldn't be where we are today."

Pink Thinks She Sings Better Upside Down
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Concerts / Tours, Performances, Upcoming Releases, Pop,
Pink thinks she sings better upside down. The vocalist has recently been performing without a bungee rope for the first time in four years a device that was used on 2009's Funhouse tour, which featured a host of acrobatics.
The 33-year-old played London's iTunes Festival this week. "This is my first gig in a long while and I didn't know how it would go. I do think I sound better upside down. I'm finding it hard remembering the words singing standing up," she told The Daily Star.
In between the active gigs a few years ago and her new album The Truth About Love, Pink gave birth to daughter Willow. "I miss the bungee. I loved all the acrobatics so we are trying to figure out what to do for the next tour, something rad. It's amazing to be back. I've been pining for a stage. But having a baby changes the logistics of touring. I don't hang out with my bandmates at the bar anymore," the star said.
However she insists motherhood will not alter her personality: "I haven't lost my edge. Having a baby doesn't change your attitude. The new album is about love but aren't they all? I wrote it seven months after she was born."

Taylor Swift dived into the crowd during her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).
The 22-year-old singer closed the ceremony last night with a performance of her new single "We Are Never Getting Back Together," for which she was joined by a troupe of dancers in brightly-colored casual outfits and sunglasses. Taylor - who arrived at the ceremony in a white tuxedo but switched to a red and white striped T-shirt, tiny denim shorts and red brogues for her performance - began by singing into a mock studio before stepping out onto the stage for a high energy routine, which she finished with her leap into the audience.
