Jay-Z Faces NBA Investigation After UK’s Final Four Win

Jay-Z brought lots of excitement to the University of Kentucky’s men’s basketball team last week when he treated them to a post-game locker room visit. The Wildcats were already riding high following the NCAA tournament game which landed them in the Final Four of the Division I tournament. But, Jay-Z crossed the line with the visit for one important reason: he’s a mogul, not an ordinary fan.

And, in this particular case, he’s a part owner of the New Jersey Nets. According to NBA rules, this means he’s banned from having any contact with collegiate players who haven’t announced themselves for the NBA draft. Since Kentucky’s basketball season isn’t quite over and no one has stepped forward to say they’re going pro (though there’s much speculation that Brandon Knight and others on the team may be doing just that in a few weeks), the rapper broke the rules.

It’s likely he’ll have to pay a fine for the violation following an NBA investigation, a small price to pay for visiting the most winning team in all of college basketball.
