Three Stooges May Unite Penn, Carrey and Del Toro
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: MGM, Comedy, Casting, Celeb News, Upcoming Releases,
Sean Penn has just lined up his next project, and it has nothing to do with Lindsay Lohan. The 48-year-old actor has just attached himself to a picture from the Farrelly brothers (There’s Something About Mary).
Sean, who recently won his second Oscar for his portrayal of Harvey Milk, will now take on the role of Larry (Fine) in MGM’s The Three Stooges. Jim Carrey, who is still in negotations for the part of Curly (Howard), will reportedly gain up to 40 pounds for the movie. Meanwhile, Benicio Del Toro is being courted to play Moe (Howard).
Unlike Milk, this film will not be considered a biopic. “It takes place in present day, and they look, dress and sound exactly like the Stooges,” Peter Farrelly clarified.
Although it was originally November 2009 release, production is not expected to begin until later this fall.

Seth Rogen Denies Getting Call From Lohan
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Celebrity Gossip,
If Lindsay Lohan really wanted to get a job, maybe she should actually start making phone calls rather than just talking about them.
In the current issue of Nylon magazine, the Razzie winner claimed she was hoping to get her career back on track with the help of two A-listers. “I’m talking to [lots of people]. One is Sean Penn – I spoke to him again the other day. We’re trying to get Seth Rogen for this project, but Seth won’t call us back. So call us back, Seth, if you’re reading this!,” Lohan pleaded.
Funny thing is - Rogen had absolutely no idea what she was talking about.
When asked by Moviefone why he won’t return Lindsay’s calls, the Observe and Report star he hasn’t even been contacted. “That is not ... That’s the first I had heard of that. And my assistant hadn’t heard it either. I can tell you that she hasn’t called me. If she has, I haven’t heard about it. [But] I would call her back, sure! I’d return a call.”
Maybe Lindsay’s right. If we would just all leave her alone, she could figure out how to get her stories straight.

Where the Wild Things Are trailer
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Warner Bros, Adaptation, Adventure, Family, Trailers,
The official trailer for Where the Wild Things Are debuted this morning on The Ellen Degeneres Show, and immediately caused many to start frothing at the mouth due to it’s high level of awesome. We must say, after watching it a few times, this has got to be one of the most beautiful movie trailers we’ve seen in, well, ever. For those unfamiliar, Where the Wild Things Are is an adaptation of a children’s story written by Maurice Sendek about a disobedient boy named Max who gets sent to bed without supper (or, dinner, as we call it.) He then creates an imaginary forest world that is inhabited by wild creatures who crown him as their ruler.
The movie hits theaters on October 16th, 2009.
Box Office Breakdown: Nicolas Cage Bests Julia Roberts

It was a battle between two Oscar winners this past weekend - one in (Julia Roberts) a well-received drama and the other (Nicolas Cage) in a critically panned thriller.
You can guess how this ended.
Knowing, a film about a bunch of seemingly random numbers, found itself hitting all the right ones over the past three days. The Summit Entertainment project earned $24.6 million and a first place finish. The debut - a nice rebound from Cage’s showing with Bangkok Dangerous - also gave the actor his sixth best premiere ever.

Zac Efron Drops Out of Footloose
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Paramount, Musicals, Casting, Celeb News,
Getting tired of seeing Zac Efron in musicals? Well, you’re not alone.
Although he had been previously set to star in a musical update of Footloose, Zac Efron has decided to set aside his dancing shoes. According to TheWrap, the 21-year-old bailed out of the movie fearing he’d be typecast. (Uhh - couldn’t he have figured that out before?).
Paramount chose to fast-track the film when Efron became attached to the project last fall. Unfortunately, Zac announced his departure just last week. (Production had been planned to start sometime this spring.) Because the actor was given script approval, a screenplay rewrite allowed him to take advantage of the exit clause.

Lindsay Lohan Planning to Work with Sean Penn?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Celebrity Gossip,

UPDATE: You can read Seth Rogen’s response to Lindsay’s comments here.
What do Sean Penn, Lindsay Lohan and Seth Rogen have in common? According to the unemployed name in this group, they could be starring in a movie together.
In the April issue of Nylon magazine, the 22-year-old tabloid fixture expressed a concern many people are now sharing: a lack of work. “It’s scary when you realize, ‘Oh my God, I’m not working. And I have a house to pay for now.’” (When exactly did you realize that, honey—before or after you went to the club?)
And though she admits being turned down for Tim Burton’s adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, Lindsay claims she still has other possible projects out there.

Movies Turned Musicals: Heathers, Sleepless in Seattle and More
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Action, Musicals, Romance, Comedy,

The lights may be dimming on many Broadway shows, but that won’t keep the productions from coming:
Heathers: The dark comedy about Heather Chandler, Heather Duke, Heather McNamara and Veronica will be resurrected for the stage. The 1988 film, which starred Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, is being developed by director Andy Fickman (Race to Witch Mountain) and scored by Tony nominee Larry O’Keefe (Legally Blonde).
It’s still unclear at this time which actors will star in the final presentation, but Christian Campbell has been in readings for the role of J.D. while Veronica Mars’ Kristen Bell has tried out Veronica (natch). Look for Heathers to start out as a regional production sometime in 2010.
