On Gear Live: 2025 Mercedes G-Wagen AMG G 63 Review: The Classic SUV Finally Hits Its Peak

Toy Story 3

The number “11” appears to be a good one for .

Although it’s been almost 11 years since we had fun with Woody and Buzz Lightyear, those classic characters were apparently anything but forgotten. This weekend’s long-anticipated debut of rang up $110 million, giving Pixar its 11th chart topper in a row. The sequel also surpassed all previous Pixar debuts (including The Incredibles’ $70.5 million from 2004) and became the second best animated opener of all time (right behind Shrek the Third‘s $121.6 million from 2007).

, on the other hand, was unfortunately cursed from the start. The comic book adaptation - starring Josh Brolin and Megan Fox - fired up a underwhelming $5.4 million. That performance was even more dismal than the debut of Megan Fox’s last film, Jennifer’s Body, which opened to $6.9 million in September 2009.

Megan Fox on Jonah Hex setAction starlet shot her scenes for Jonah Hex in five days.

The 24-year-old star - who plays love interest Lilah in the western movie - only spent five days on the set of the film and confesses it was one of the hardest she has worked on.

“It’s the toughest movie I’ve ever done. The stunts and the make-up… a lot of pain… f**king horrible. I don’t know if I’d do it again. I only worked on this for five days in Louisiana. And we would shoot all day. So we worked really hard for those five days, and then they wrapped me.”

However, the screen beauty did admit she has worked on more “difficult” projects in the past: “It was an intense process, to cram all of that into such a short amount of time. It was difficult. It’s not the most difficult thing I’ve done or survived.”

Megan recently confessed she had problems on the set of the movie as her small hands prevented her from being able to hold a gun correctly. “Actually there was one gunfight scene that the stunt team had been choreographing for, I think, a couple of weeks, and I showed up and I had a minute to get it down and rehearse it and it was really difficult for me to shoot the old-style gunslinger guns because I have tiny little baby hands. The guns are really large and really heavy, so just the physicality of actually having to pull that off was really difficult. This was more action-heavy for me.”

Not sure if Sony can successfully pull off a live-action/CG version of ? Well, neither am I. But I’m not the type of person who would make snap judgments about a film or anything…

The good thing about this teaser trailer? It features an intro by - wait for it - (human) actor . The bad thing? It ends with some funny-looking blue guys. (And where the heck is Smurfette?)

Like what you see? Then prepare to get Smurf’d on July 29, 2011.

David YatesDavid Yates is being lined up as the new director for .

The filmmaker is reportedly the top replacement choice for studio MGM, as they search for a suitable candidate to oversee the highly-anticipated two-part adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy tales - a prequel to The Lord of the Rings movies.

Previous director Guillermo del Toro pulled out of The Hobbit last month after continued delays with production, believed to be caused by studio MGM’s financial difficulties. Since then, David has been cited as the best candidate to replace him.

The English director has worked on the final three movies in the wizard franchise ,which he will continue working on until next year. This is expected to give MGM enough time to raise funds ahead of his involvement.

Meanwhile, Sir Ian McKellen - who is due to reprise his role as Gandalf in the fantasy prequel - took to his account recently to reassure fans the film won’t be affected by the change of director: “Hobbit sets are ready, script ready and movie is casting this month. Fans are not to worry. The films will get made. I suspect we’ll start shooting at end of this year. (sic)”

recently made an appearance at the Hero Complex Film Festival, where he confirmed what many people were hoping wasn’t true: he’s retiring from the acting game. From now on, the man best known as Mr. Spock will concentrate on photography, collecting art and spending time with his family. In the video above, you can hear some of Nimoy’s comments from the event.

Well, I hope Paramount is happy with their poorly-penned relaunch. After decades of donning the Vulcan ears, Nimoy’s been driven out of the franchise - likely because he was so disappointed with the terrible, terrible plot of Trek 11. How do you define cop-out? Being unable to come up with a continuous, sensible storyline for a forty-four year franchise - and &%!!ing all over it instead.

It’s no wonder Spock has decided to wash his hands of the whole Hollywood business.
