Henry Cavill’s Great Wall?

Henry Cavill is in negotiations to star in The Great Wall. The British actor - who is set to be the next Superman in movie Man of Steel - has entered talks to play the as-yet-unknown leading role in the movie, co-written by Love & Other Drugs director Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz.
Little is known about the project other than it will tell the tale of the construction of the huge wall which was built to separate China from its neighbors to the north. It began being made in the 5th century BC but has been demolished and re-created a number of times since.
Thomas Tull and Max Brooks came up with the idea for the film, which is being housed by Legendary East.
Henry has a number of films planned for release, including the aforementioned Man of Steel, in which he stars alongside Amy Adams and Michael Shannon, and The Cold Light of Day, which will be released in April.

Cinema Scene: Sing-Along Beauty and the Beast; Live-Action Mulan

-A sing-along version of Beauty and the Beast will be coming to theaters at the end of the month. The animated film will be available in limited release on September 29 and October 2.
-Speaking of old Disney films, Zhang Ziyi will star in a live-action version of Mulan. The English-language project will be directed by Speed‘s Jan de Bont and produced by an independent studio.
-Blockbuster has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The video chain – which has nearly approximately $1 billion in debt – will be preparing to close another 800 stores.
-Ed Zwick’s Love and Other Drugs, starring Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal, has been chosen to open AFI Fest 2010 in November. Black Swan will close the festival.

Zach Galifianakis: The Hangover scene stealer has been invited to have Dinner for Schmucks. The comedy focuses on the “most pathetic” person to ever be included in a weekly dinner. Galifianakis will sit alongside Steve Carell and Paul Rudd in this Jay Roach-directed film.

As strange as it may sound, Kevin James just took down Clint Eastwood, Notorious B.I.G. and a serial killer to become the current box office champ. Paul Blart: Mall Cop‘s $40 million take was the second biggest ever for a January opener. (Cloverfield took in $46.1 million at this same time last year.) The comedy was also partially responsible for giving the industry its largest MLK weekend of all time.
