Rooney Mara: Dragon Tattoo Made Me More Masculine

Rooney Mara says appearing in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has made her less feminine. The 26-year-old actress admits aspects of playing the rebellious Lisbeth Salander in the new movie stayed with her and has changed her style.
"Before I got the part I was definitely more feminine and girlie. I wore a lot of pale shades and I haven't really rediscovered that yet. I've kept with the black and dark colors."
In the movie, Rooney's psychologically-damaged character exacts revenge on her rapist, but despite the graphic nature of some of her scenes, the actress insists they didn't affect her because of the physical transformation she underwent for the role: "Because Lisbeth looked so different to me with the tattoos and piercings, it just never really felt like me so I didn't feel strange or embarrassed."
As part of her research, Rooney spent two months in Sweden - where the story is set - before the filming began and found the experience very helpful: "It was incredibly helpful because you can't really understand the characters until you've spent part of a winter there. For me, the cold and the dark were really difficult to overcome."

Quote of the Day: Noomi Rapace on Lisabeth Salander

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Action, Adaptation, Mystery, Remakes, Thrillers, Celeb News, Filmmaking,
"I felt like she lived in me... My Lisbeth was my Lisbeth. I gave her my life and my soul for one-and-a-half years, and then I was finished. I’m so done with her... My whole body was just kind of throwing Lisbeth out of me. I was like, I don’t know who I am anymore! It’s almost like you’re coming out of a… It’s like you’ve loaned yourself to someone else."

Snape Named Best Loved Harry Potter Character

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Warner Bros, Action, Adventure, Sequels, Thrillers, Casting, New Releases,
Severus Snape has topped a poll to find the best loved Harry Potter character.
The wizard - played by Alan Rickman - received over 500 more votes than Harry's best pal Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint), who finished in second place and the titular character who placed third in the poll on Empire magazine's website.
"Snape is a truly great character, multi-layered and surprisingly complicated under that straggly black haircut. He's especially good in the film because of the way that Alan Rickman infuses him with malice and menace. He seems capable of anything - and indeed he is, in the end, but in a way you never expected. While Harry, Ron and Hermione may seem more heroic, Snape is definitely JK Rowling's most important and complex character," commented Empire's Deputy Online Editor, Helen O'Hara.
Harry's close pal Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) and his godfather Sirius Black (Gary Oldman) complete the top five.

Gael Garcia Bernal Defends His Character

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Romance, Casting, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, New Releases,
Gael Garcia Bernal‘s character in Letters to Juliet is not unloving.
The 31-year-old actor claims his character in the romantic movie is not a “jerk,” and says he never morally judges any role he takes on.
“I wouldn’t call him a jerk. My character, I think, is actually very concentrated on the things he likes and the thing is, right now, his girlfriend is not able to follow him and share with him that excitement.”
The actor - who plays Victor in the movie alongside Mamma Mia! star Amanda Seyfried - also admits to having a great time filming in Italy for the romantic drama: “I did the film just to have fun ... to enjoy working with the group of actors that were here. To spend some time in Italy!”
And despite the fact his character isn’t the best chef in the film, Bernal thinks he gets away with it. He told MTV News, “He knows a lot about what he’s doing, more than any of us know about cooking, and the Italian culture. I wouldn’t judge him. I don’t like judging characters at all morally.”
Letters to Juliet - which also stars Vanessa Redgrave - will be released this Friday, May 14.
Johnny Depp Mad for Hatter Role

Johnny Depp is honored to play the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland.
The 46-year-old actor admits his eccentric character in Tim Burton‘s film, based on the classic children’s novel, was a “dream” role.
“To play the Mad Hatter and breathe life into Tim’s vision is a dream come true. He’s a fascinating character. He’s mad. He’s unpredictable.”
Depp also suggests the Mad Hatter will have a great affection for the movie’s protagonist, Alice, played by actress Mia Wasikowska: “They complete one another like a brother and sister do. He’s very protective of her, and she’s very protective of him.”
Earlier this month Anne Hathaway, who plays the White Queen in the movie, admitted the original script had her playing the lead role of Alice - but she turned it down as she felt it was too close to a previous role.
“The studio had the Alice script a long time ago and I was approached back then for the part of Alice. I considered it, but felt, what with The Princess Diaries, that I had been there, done that sort of pretty-girl-in-a-fairy-dress role. I told the studio, however, that I would, however, be interested in playing the White Queen.”
Alice in Wonderland follows a storyline different to the original story, written by Lewis Caroll, and will be released in early March.

Michael Cera enjoyed wearing a dress for his latest film role.
The Superbad actor - who plays two characters, an aspiring novelist Nick Twisp, and man of action Francois Dilinger in his latest film, Youth in Revolt - said he didn’t mind donning a dress for the role, because it was better than being stripped down to his boxers.
“I was just relieved to have something on. I was doing a scene with just boxers on before that, so it was just nice to not have people see me as much. That’s why it was so comfortable. I don’t think I was thinking about the dress. I was trying to remember what to say.”

Michael Sheen Apologizes For His Hair

Michael Sheen apologized to his daughter for not being bald.
The actor’s 10-year-old daughter Lily, whose mother is actress Kate Beckinsale, was delighted when he landed the role of Aro in The Twilight Saga: New Moon, but the Frost/Nixon star was worried that his depiction wouldn’t match up with fans’ ideas of the role.
“I said, ‘What does he look like?’ She said, ‘He’s bald.’ I think she was mixing it up with Nosferatu, the old vampire, you know? But it shows that people, and this is the beauty of books for a start, that your imagination creates your own version of these characters. And so when a film comes along and you’re kind of going, ‘No, it looks like this,’ then that’s a very delicate thing to get right or to find a way to meet everyone’s imaginary requirements of the character. So I was very aware of that because of my own daughter. I said, ‘Sorry, I’m not bald. I’ve got long hair.’”
When working on his interpretation of Aro, Michael immersed himself in Stephenie Meyer‘s novels which the movies are based on.
“I would have loved to have talked to Stephenie loads about it, but I just kept rereading a few of the chapters in the book - especially the opening chapter where she describes Aro - just looking for anything that would help give me a clue. And then I was just left to my own devices.”
Taylor Lautner Actually Does Not Mind Being Shirtless

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Action, Adaptation, Drama, Romance, Science Fiction, Sequels, Thrillers, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Rumors, Upcoming Releases,
New Moon hunk Taylor Lautner recently corrected a quote that he made regarding his shirtlessness, saying that he has no problems with taking clothes off for future roles. Good to know that the world won’t implode now.
“I love this character and I loved putting on the weight, and not wearing much clothing was required by the role. If a year from now, I love a character and a role, I will do it again.”
Here’s to hoping that screenwriters can hook up us fan girls with that…
Lautner also admits that he can’t help but laugh when he watches the scene where Jacob rips his shirt off to daub Bella’s bleeding head: “I start laughing so hard every time I see that scene, ‘Oh, you’re bleeding. OK, Let me fix that.’ So embarrassing.”

Christian Bale Based Psycho Character on Tom Cruise

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Lionsgate, Adaptation, Horror, Comedy, Thrillers, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Filmmaking, Rumors,
It’s pretty bad when Hollywood royalty bashes you. To find out that one of the most infamous on screen serial killers was based on your persona has to hurt a little, too.
American Psycho director Mary Harron reveals that actor Christian Bale based the sinister Patrick Bateman on Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise.
“One day he [Bale] called me and he had been watching Tom Cruise on David Letterman, and he just had this very intense friendliness with nothing behind the eyes, and he was really taken with this energy.”
While I have not personally looked into Cruise’s eyes, I now look at images of the actor and get a bit creeped out because of that knowledge. At the same time, I feel that Cruise’s wife, Katie Holmes, holds more of this so-called emptiness behind her eyes—she’s the one leeching off the superstar’s wealth and career, after all. Just an observation!
