VIDEO: See James Franco’s ‘As I Lay Dying’ Trailer
Continuing in his effort to be The Guy Who Is Perfect at Everything Imaginable, James Franco not only adapted the classic William Faulkner novel As I Lay Dying, but he decided to participate in the project both in front of and behind the camera.
Though usually co-starring with Franco in comedies like Pineapple Express and Your Highness, Danny McBride shows off his dramatic acting chops in the trailer for the film, which was released at the Cannes Film Festival.

The teaser reveals the film to be a straightforward, faithful adaptation of Faulkner's prolific novel, which tells the tale of a poor Southern family who trek to Jefferson to honor their mother's wish to be buried there. This glimpse of Franco's directorial bid tells me that I'll be in for a treat that will make my inner lit nerd happy, but I'm sure I'll be just as entertained if any McBride/Franco comedic improv makes it into the film.
The film - which has yet to be picked up for release - also stars True Blood's Jim Parrack, Logan Marshall-Green, Tim Blake Nelson, and Beth Grant.
