Efron vs. Timberlake: Who’s Going to Memphis?

Forget that silly Team Edward vs. Team Jacob rivalry. The real question is “Are you Team Zac or Team Justin?”

That’s the unfortunate decision one studio may have to make if an adaptation of Memphis comes to fruition. The Broadway production could soon be headed to the big screen, and rumor has it and Justin Timberlake are both interested in the same role.

Memphis, the recent Tony Award winner for Best Musical, tells the 1950’s-set story of “a white radio DJ who wants to change the world and a black club singer who is ready for her big break.” The two actors - who are reportedly contending for the lead part of Huey Calhoun - have been spotted attending the show separately.

Although no big screen film has yet been formally announced, director has been seen in the audience. He’s also had a conversation with one of Memphis’ writers.

If Stone does take on the project, this could mean a big win for the singer. According to sources, Timberlake would be his choice for the role.
