I have been looking at this as an option for a vehicle in the future, but one of my main concerns was the safety portion of it. I wanted a car that would be fuel efficient, but according to these results, I am not as worried now—though I am still worried about getting run over by an SUV!

“small car may be safer in congested urban areas, where crashes occur less often.”
So why are they crash testing it so strictly. They should be testing cars whhich are more often going to be in crashes, lets face it crashes are not going to stop in our lifetime, now are they.

I was doing some more research about the smart car data, and those ratings are only if they were in crashes with vehicles of the same size! (which is basically the mini cooper and that is it) So I guess if you hit a mini cooper you will be fine, but you will surely be flattened by a Hummer

This is sounding like a car of the future with the price for a gallon of gas nowadays. I hope we see more small cars on the road. I drive a jeep wrangler an it gets scared of some of those hummers.
