Why isn’t the Bible clearer & more straightforward?

2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

And yet, the Bible is interpretted differently by every Christian sect.  There are some fundamental practices that need to be understood in order for salvation, and many traditions are completely against biblical teachings.

The Bible itself says that it needs to be studied carefully, and also practiced to determine whether it’s true.

Acts 17:11
Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

Still, it’s like God wants to make it hard to understand what’s right, given the same biblical text.

BTW, I’m a pretty good student and believer of Biblical Scripture.  I’m not here to argue the validity of the bible, so stay away from this thread if you believe in something else and want to argue that point.

because god has a fun time seeing how we interpret it?  But really, The ten commandments aren’t vague.  And would the bible really be as interesting if everything was straightforward?  I think it puts what needs to be known most straightforward, and the others are left for us to figure out.

I think its all a contest!  Let’s see who’s religion interprets The Bible the correct way!

But I think the Bibile is supposed to be interpreted the way each person wants to.  I believe it was made so people are not confined to living a strict lifestyle (even though this is abused by many “Christians”).  I do not consider myself as “Religious”.  But then again, I do not consider half the people who claim to be it, “Religious”.  Knowing the way the people live and what they say, it makes me think that they believe that going to church and saying they believe in the teachings of The Bible will save them.  Oh well.. people these days…

I agree I hate those Christians that have to push all their beliefs on EVERYONE else and cant just do what they want alone. Also yeah people claim to be religous and then do sins all the ****ing time!

I am not religous really. 😉

there’s nothing wrong with the bible. its us. its only nature. we’re all different, we all interpret things differently. it makes life interesting. our different lives make us all see the bible in a different perspective.

Read the NIV, not the King James.  King James is the exact words the bible was wrote in and the NIV is more for today.

Im more down with King James, its a little more pure, except the NIV is way easier to read, and I like that too.

Ya I went to a few churches that were small and pretty boring, but now I found a cool little place. The pastor is pretty funny lol.

To me the bible is non-fiction.  Maybe it’s so vague after the many translations?
