Though the three-women dynamic has been unsuccessful for TV writer David E. Kelley (Boston Legal, Ally McBeal) in the past, he’s going to give it the old college try again on FOX with The Wedding Bells. Though Girls Club (also about three women, this time lawyers) flopped after only two episodes, FOX and Kelley have high hopes for the Bell sisters, starring characters in a new scripted comedy. Big ratings after American Idol inspired FOX to show the pilot to audiences again this evening, for all those that missed the Bells the first time around. Early reviews are in, and many are predicting another failure. Viewers are already commenting that the show is very funny, however, and comedy often saves the day even when the plot is thinner than thin.
