I’ll admit it: when I saw the trailers for Black Snake Moan (a new Samuel L. Jackson movie) I said to myself, “another snake movie for Jackson? Come on!” Snakes have nothing to do with the movie - though trailers depicting a half-naked, starved-looking and chained up Christina Ricci made that clear enough. The sweaty, almost trashy-looking film that’s shown in these ads is actually not the reality of Black Snake Moan. Though, yes, Jackson’s character does chain up Ricci’s, it’s actually a tale of redemption and self-love. And what’s more, according to reviews it’s really, really good. Go figure.
