A crackdown on Internet financial scams has gotten more than $2.1 billion in fake checks. The use spam e-mail offering to pay recipients processing fees for depositing checks, which later turn out to be phony, and sending the proceeds back to the person who scammed them.
The people who sent the money back lose out on the money that is a fake check. I think that these people should get in trouble to for the fact how can they not tell that its a scam? I have people call my phone asking about my bank info and if I dont know who you are or your not authorized to get it I dont give it!! They ended up getting the ones that have ran this scam, which is good they needed to be stopped. You should never give out any kind of financial or personal information out to anyone, no matter who they say they are!
