i just learned to touch type, im really looking to increase my efficiency while working on the computer so i into it about 1 month ago. i started at 36 wpm- 34 gwpm
in 1 month, im now at 52 wpm and 50 gwpm
actually a few days ago i was at 48/46 but posting in the forums so much really improved my speed
so im wondering, am i typing slow for doing it a month now?
i know average is supposed to be 60 or something
any help or tips are appreciated!

Lol my record was 100wpm or so.
It’s kind of strange how I learned.
I used to play on RuneScape all the time (and I still do, and proud of it!) and I always made my money by selling stuff. So day in and day out when my parents weren’t looking I just continuously typing “Selling diamond ammies 10k ea” or something like that. After a while it just comes naturally, and touchtyping is within your control 😛
If you don’t play any games, just go into an empty IRC channel or join one and then just continuously type the same thing.
It’s all about practice 😉

go to http://www.gamesgames.com. in the search, type in ‘qwerty warriors’. it is a very cute game where you have to type in the letters of the words, in order, to destroy them before they destroy you.

I played it for hours, cuz i love typing. it will really help you bring up your speed, especially with touch-typing.

I am somewhere in the 80s for WPM which isnt too bad I guess.  I used to be even better (over 100 WPM at one point) but I can’t type quite as fast on this notebook, and I’m not sure why else my WPM would decline.  So I will blame it on the notebook since thats the easiest thing to do 😛

I actually type quite fast, this is due to many high school classes.. Since I was my high school’s webmaster for four straight years, I had to be able to update news on the dot, and with the tight schedule I had, I had to be able to type as fast as I could with NO errors.  Also to type straight html, php.. ahh the good ol’ days 😉

I’m very bad at typing because most of time i use the mouse.i’m only @ 75 WPM.I’ll need to get it faster. 😊

sushrukh how long have you been typing?

I try to type very fast and end up using the Backspace more often than any other key,damn i need to learn to type,im self taught and my habbits are bad.Im around 40-45.
