The next two Chronicles of Narnia movies have been delayed, with production and release dates pushed back. Disney says part of the problem is arranging the schedules of the young stars of the films.

The first one was a smashing success, and I am waiting for the second to come out on DVD so I can watch it at my leisure. (I plan on collecting the series as I am a Narnia fan) the initial reports are that Pince Caspian was also a success.

however, there were some questions as to why the producers didn’t go in the order of the books.

the boxed set i have goes in this order:
1. Magicians Nephew
2. Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe
3. The Horse and his Boy
4. Prince Caspian
5. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
6. The Silver Chair
7. The Last Battle

That is the chronological order, but not the order they were originally released.

2. Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe
4. Prince Caspian
5. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
6. The Silver Chair
3. The Horse and his Boy
1. Magicians Nephew
7. The Last Battle

That is how they were released. The problem with putting them in chronological order is that the books written later assume you know things learned in books written earlier. Such as how Narnia and Aslan are introduced to you in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, but the Magicians Nephew which happened first assumes you already know about them. I don’t think there is any right way to read them especially if you already know the back story.

Thanks for the info. I think when I origionally read the books, LWW was the first one I read. my cousin lent me hers (after much persuasion and promising not to damage them in any way) and I have been a fan ever since. I found them on audio books and am in the process of listening along with them. BTW, when were they origionally released?

My favorites were The Silver Chair and Prince Caspian.

I haven’t watched any of the movies yet, are they as good as the books?
So far I read The Silver Chair, Prince Caspian, The Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe, and The Last Battle.

You can find release dates at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Chronicles_of_Narnia

They are most definitely good! you know how some movie makers do a bad job following the story? (Eragon was one that comes to mind) Narnia was excellently rendered and the screenplay went almost verbatim with the book. I haven’t seen Prince Caspian just yet, but I am hoping that all the reviews are correct and it is as good as the first one - The LWW.

And I found that once you read them the first time, you may have to go back through a second or third time just to get all the stuff you might have missed, and make any character connections.

Eragon… I planned to watch with my friends, but horrible feedback. Arya looks too old T_T

Since you say it follows the book I think I’ll go check it out from the library sometime. Kind of watched The LWW at school, except I didn’t wear my coke-bottle glasses so I didn’t know what was going on lol.

In Eragon, the characters are ok, but the story line doesn’t really flow very well in the movie. My sister loved the book, even read the second one (I think they were going to make that one into a movie as well) and she said it didn’t follow very well. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the movie for what it was worth, but it’s not something to wear yourself out over.

Eldest is awesome. I can’t wait for Brisingr.

Eragon the movie… the commercial didn’t make it seem good enough. And I heard at the end there’s the indication of Arya liking Eragon. Something that totally doesn’t happen in the book.

Yes that is true, but don’t let me spoil the movie for you. there are enough good points and special effects to outweigh the tendencies to stray from the book, so do go and see it. and I can’t wait for the other two either.
