Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip was loudly hyped and much anticipated by NBC, a network that’s struggling for dominance (or even mid-level achievement) in network broadcasting. The show was canceled after an abbreviated first season, never to return to the network. Some blame the media, which battled with show creator Aaron Sorkin, but it’s much more likely the public just couldn’t dig a show about comedy writing. The truth is, writing can be pretty boring - a lot of sitting around and typing. Even Reality TV won’t touch the subject, proving that NBC is indeed growing desperate.
