On paper, License to Wed sounds like it could be a hysterically great movie. You’ve got funnyman Robin Williams playing Reverend Frank, a priest with a Marriage 101 crash course for engaged couples, Mandy Moore playing a sweet-faced bride-to-be who just wants to get married in the church of her childhood, and a groom who’s just trying to please his girlfriend. Factor in the slightly creepy factor of Williams, plastic babies that regurgitate, and religion being treated like a contest, and you may be looking at a huge box office flop. The word’s out, and it says Williams is more freaky than funny.
