Does anyone know of a good free midi to mp3/ogg/wav/etc. program? I thought maybe dBpowerAMP would have some sort of codec installation, but I couldn’t find anything :(

Any help would be greatly appreciated 😊 Thanks, and have a good day

Grrr! No thanks to you people, I found out that iTunes can convert! lol It’s apparently a little-known fact, but anyway..

For anyone’s future reference, here’s how you do it:

Open iTunes
Click “Edit” in the menu
Choose “Preferences”
Click the tab labeled “Importing”
Change the “Import Using” value to “mp3 Encoder”

Then, click on “File”
Click on “Add File To Library”
Navigate to the location of the midi file, or whatever format file

Then, select the midi file in the Library
Right click on the midi file
A menu will be brought up where you can “Convert Selection to mp3”. Choose this.

To change your iTunes back to its original Apple format (if you want that), simply follow the following directions:

Click “Edit” in the menu
Choose “Preferences”
Click the tab labeled “Importing”
Change the “Import Using” value to “AAC Encoder”

Bye bye now

[quote author=“digital_ripper04”]lol you do know download.com has millions of converters . . .. . .

They all had these weird trial versions where they were like, “We can only convert the first 60 seconds” or something else, and I didn’t want that. It was bizarre. Anyway, I figured out how to do it through iTunes which was good. Remember, I was asking for a *good* converter 😉

Do as follows: Options->Preferences
then choose output plugins-> choose nullsoft diskwriter.
Then go to input and config ur MIDI Player to use “Microsoft Synthesizer (with out) as the device.
play ur song and it will convert it into a wav. then get
lame mp3 encoder and encode (its free, opensource).
There is also something called WinLame which provides a Graphical interface to Lame.

o0o0o0o… this shall come in handy next time then :mischeif: But I haven’t downloaded too many midi files anyway. Still, it’s good to know 😊 I saw on the Winamp forums some other people doing it too!
