They are selling them now. Apple claims they are 4 times faster, but they are also very expensive.

I would go for the imac at $1299 which is a great deal.  They are having a couple of bugs with some video stuff but I imagine those should get handled quickly.  After all Apple is a better company and owns all of its hardware so that makes fixing bugs a breeze.

You can also load windows on this new chip and it will run natively.  Or so I hear.  Not that anyone would really want to use windows other than gaming but who knows.

If you need the newest thing, then buy it now, if you can wait, then wait a bit for second gen. or for their next announcement. See what comes from that announcement.

I have a new Core Duo iMac, and it is great. It does need more memory than the 512 MB that it ships with, but aside from that, the processor is quick.

I am sure that since Apple named their new laptop the MacBook Pro, that there will also be a “non-Pro” version of the MacBook. Go ahead and wait on a laptop purchase from Apple.
