For some reason about two to three weeks ago, my computer started doing this weird thing with the wave balance under the volume settings when I listen to mp3s on Winamp. I heart Winamp very much and its version and would rather NOT use any other program/version, so can any of y’all help me?

Everytime I listen to an mp3, my computer just automatically lowers the wave balance so it sounds much quieter than what it should be. Of course, if I raise the wave balance to the appropriate level, it sounds normal, but it’s quite annoying doing this on every single mp3 that plays on Winamp, especially since my playlist is non-stop play (it lowers the wave balance everytime an mp3 is played).

Any ideas on what this could be and/or how to fix it? A friend of mine suggested it might be the equalizer settings on Winamp, and I’ve checked, and that doesn’t seem to be the problem.

Any help is greatly appreciated in advance. Thanks! 😊

i haven’t used winamp in awhile, but isn’t there an “Auto” setting next to the On button in the equalizer window? might wanna turn that off if its on.

I know on iTunes, there’s a “sound check” feature that fixes noise levels, maybe winamp has that somewhere in its options… :?

:( No, that doesn’t seem to be it. I checked and unchecked all sorts of things under the Preferences in Winamp too. :::le sigh::: Perhaps I should go and try and find some sort of Winamp forum..? Eh

Problem solved 😊

For anyone’s information (and if you are using an old version of Winamp), right-click anywhere on Winamp, then follow the instructions:

Options -> Preferences -> Plug-ins -> Output

If waveOut plug-in is selected (the one being used is highlighted), then click “Configure” and uncheck “Enable” under Volume Control 😛 Simple, eh? Too bad it took me a good 2 to 3 weeks to figure it out 😢

A mod may lock this thread if so desired. 😊 Thanks for the help, Mr. Antman
