I dont think it is, you have to either go out and buy another tv, or get the convertor boxes. Yes they give you a coupon for the box but you still pay out of your pocket. I just dont think its fair to the people on low incomes that they do this and can get away with it. What is your feedback on this issue?

You can get the cheap converter boxes that will be almost nothing with the coupon. I think this will be good to make way for all the digital goodness. Like wifi max and all.

Who said that they switched off analog! Analog as a term is used in many terms and it depends on what technology you mean.
Analog is widely used in recording tapes because it’s much purer than digital format. Also there is still analogue devices that gives much handling than a digital one, unless something up that it’s more accurate than analogue one.

I know many things became digital but not everything.

everyone will have to swich to digital by 2009. i like the idea of having digital but i also believe that if people are being forced into they should at least be able to get their boxes free. you should not have to pay a dime.

Thats what I mean that no one should be made to buy something if they dont want to or arent able to, yeah it might be cheap for some but for the ones that are on a fixed income level every cent counts!! And thats why I dont think its fair.

I think it is absolutely fair.  The government is giving out coupons to people for free (or discounted) convertor boxes to convert from analog to digital.  Freeing up the analog airways will allow for more useful programming on TV and the spectrum has already been sold to some companies for development of new services.  In addition, part of the spectrum will be used by our law enforcement agencies so everyone wins!
