This information was taken from Gamecentral; a UK Teletext service.

For those still addicted to massively Multiplayer Online phenomenon World Of Warcraft, it seems that Blizzard is out to destroy any thoughts of cold turkey.

It looks like the game is about to get a second expansionn pand, and if the German Ratings Board is right; it’ll be called Wrath Of The Lich King

It has also managed to let slip that it’ll demo at the Leizig Games Convention later this month.

So Keep an eye out for later this month.

Yeah, read about that yesterday, or the day before. I don’t know how I feel about it though. Obviously Arthas is going to appear in some form, and if he does turn out to be an endboss in a dungeon then blizzard has balls, but Arthas being a lich, he can resurrect himself, just like Kel Thuzad. So players will probably never be able to kill Arthas, but come very close. I don’t think Blizzard wants to kill off Arthas in World of Warcraft, or perhaps nearing the end of WoW they’ll decide to throw on an event, huge battle with NPCs and both factions ally themselves and all where Arthas is ultimately destroyed. I can see Deathwing returning as the ultimate evil in the world in the next game, they’ve left it open for him to return, for those not that into the lore Deathwing is the father of Nefarian and Onyxia. The rise of the Deathwing, I could see that happening.

In some time, when they’ve built up enough story, and characters (since many major characters have been killed off in WoW), they can return with yet another MMO Warcraft. Knowing Blizzard I think they’ll wait a couple of “normal” games before they do another MMO Warcraft. The story that they built up to in World of Warcraft took 3 games and a couple of books, and for another WoW to be at all interesting I think they need to build up to WoW 2 in the same way.

As the resident WoW fanatic, I have to say…

... yawn…

I mean, the game is continuing, and I’m glad they’ve got an expansion, but it will be recieved nowhere near as well as Burning Crusade. Burning Crusade drove a lot of people away from WoW, and unless this expansion offers something truly earth-shattering, those people won’t be coming back.

... and no new players are going to start buying the series because of it either.

So, unless Lich King is something new, different and revolutionary, it’s just beating a dying horse.

Well, I’ve clocked my share of hours in WoW(192 days played) as well, Burning Crusade drove me away from the game for some time, true, but I returned to it for the story, and Burning Crusade adds to the Warcraft lore in a pretty huge way, I think the next expansion will as well, and you’re wrong if you think the expansion mostly drove away people, because it actually increased the total unique accounts to somewhere over 9 million players world wide, and BC isn’t even out in China yet (China stands has 3.5 million WoW users).

So as the resident Warcraft-lore-Fanatic I’m not yawning at this, but if you’re tired of the game, sure I understand that you wouldn’t get excited by this.
