At the beginning of the second season of Hell’s Kitchen, it became pretty obvious (at least to me) that FOX asked Gordon Ramsay to turn the heat up a little on competing chefs. He was more enraged than ever, threw the word “donkey” around more often, and brought new color to curse words that I thought couldn’t get any more interesting. At the same time, FOX gave Gordon more inexperienced chefs than they had before, as if testing the poor man’s patience. This year, they tried to take it up yet another notch. Inexperienced chefs and Gordon Ramsay, a world-class culinary artist. And he’s supposed to give one of them a restaurant? Of course he’s going to scream and call them donkeys - even I’m annoyed with half of them, and I don’t have to deal with them. This season’s cast promises to give us a lot to watch, though one sinister blip still lurks in the future. Next week, we’ll see the episode that features the ambulance footage FOX just can’t stop teasing us with. It looks very serious…probably too serious for what was supposed to be a rather lighthearted, somewhat funny cooking show. Don’t ruin my Monday for the sake of your reality ratings, FOX.

I wish they’d have chefs of equal ability on the show.  It’s their greatest fault, and the reason why Top Chef is so much better.
