whats all this pentium d stuff? i know its the dual core one, but does it offer a large improvement over a pentium 4? i have a 3 ghz p4 prescott. should i be looking to upgrade to one of these new ones or is it not worth the $400?

it’s for multitasking…

i personally don’t see a very big market for it (compile or render something while doing internet?)

you will probably need alot of RAM to take advantage of it, though

i guess i wont upgrade to it then. and whether or not amd is better, its not really an option. i have quite a good intel-based computer now, and i dont want to switch out half of my components just to get a slightly better amd processor.

Pentium D will become the standard and from some tests I’ve seen it is faster but its not worth upgrading if you have a super fast system already.  Wait a year and you’ll be happier…
