Keep in mind that n AMD 2800+ that runs at 1.8ghz is faster than an Intel Celeron that runs at that speed.

AMD and Intel processors have different architechures(sp?).  The number behind it (2800) is how fast it is compared to an intel processor.  So if it was a amd 64 3000 it would run as fast as a 3 ghz intel processor even though the clock speed is 2.2 ghz

That’s pretty awesome. I had always wondered what those numbers where for. I never knew that. Unless of course you are lying to me.

Back on topic.

thevman20032003 I want to help you but there is just too much gibberish that I dont want to go through in those specs you posted. Also do you know how many RAM slots the motherboard has and what RAM the motheboard can run.

you should upgrade that geforce4 mx if you plan on playing any modern games.  if you dont, thats a fine card.

if you’re going to use the speakers a lot, get a soundblaster audigy sound card. again, onboard sound is fine if you dont really plan on using it too much.

you will probably want to eventually get a new hard drive, but that will be easy. i saw a 160 gb one that is compatible with your system for $40 at compusa a few weeks ago, so you are fine there. dont upgrade this until you have to.

your ram is 512 MB PC3200, and that is quite good.  you may want to get a gig someday but its not really needed yet.

theres nothing wrong with that processor.  why would you already want to upgrade the processor if you dont even have the computer yet?

Audigy sucks, get a m-audio or em-u card.

Processor is fine, thats what I have and I have no probs with it.

RAM is fine, might want a new vid card. I havn’t looked a vid cards in a while so I wouldn’t know whats new and best to get.
