i know how it feels… i lost 2 years worth of reports a few months ago. Now i backup to a box.net account every day, jump drive after every task, and full HDD image of desktop once a week.

Anyone have any experience replacing them? Is it hard to do? Sony Vaio BTW. :think:

i helped my school techie replace a HDD in a Vaio (one of the huge P4s), and it was just taking out a small screw and plugging in the new one.

Big improvement in speed if going up from a 4200RPM to a 5400 or 7200 :D

(going to replace mine soon)

my friend has done it before. Like ben said, its not hard, just a swap and some screws, but you do have be careful. make sure you put everything back the way it was.

“hrm, why is there an extra screw. ah well, it couldn’t of been that important…..” 😢

I sure hope you guys are right. One of my friends said that Sony offers 3 yr warrantee on the HD ... Hope its true.  😊

Going to install an HD my self ... Wish me luck ....

- 60 GB HD ... Check
- Screwdriver ... Check
- Anti-static strap ... check
- Screw holder ... check
- Duct tape ... Check

you need a magnet-on-a-stick(tm), also 😉  (in case you drop a screw)

MAKE SURE YOU BACKED UP!!!
