It’s because they’re bundling the Value Pack stuff like they did in Japan, which for them was near $250 as well.  Plus the Spidey Movie is an extra.

I’m still confirming this, but it sounds like the PSP will come ready to download the PIM firmware update, which will include word-processing, spreadsheet, Web-browser, and email applications.

Story.

I can’t wait. I don’t care that the price is more than expected. I mean it comes bundled with a lot of stuff I was going to buy eventually. So it works out.

If you guys want to check out the firmware Hector is talking about.

Story from last month.

That was the unofficial version. Hopefully the U.S. version will come with the official version. Clie who?  😛

Damn I want the PSP so bad. Hope I get my refs soon for OddTech. They said they are keeping it at 4 refs and if you finish before March 24th, you will only need those 4 refs to get the PSP.

March 24
$249

A little bit higher than expected, but I’m still willing to pay. I think it’s worth it. Kind of like an iPod; it’s a privelege to have.

I have preordered.  I was planning to get it anyways, but I want the Spider Man 2 UMD to test the video playback.  That way I can wait to buy a 1 gb Memory Stick until they’re cheaper.  :D

Well except for the case everything that comes in the Value Pack should really be included with the console.

Heh, well I think the case is the only thing worth charging extra for.  The rest of the stuff should be included with the normal PSP at no additional cost.

About the $250 price point….I could have used the extra $50 to help with my 1GB Pro Duo card and some quality headphones, and a non-crappy pouch.  IGN itself already ran a feature on how terrible the Value Pack was in Japan.  The pouch doesn’t hold games in it, and the system can easily slide right out by accident.  The headphone and cords don’t even match the PSP color.  Lame as all f***.
